Nintendo and Square Enix have revealed that the Kingdom Hearts series is coming to Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming. Titles coming to the platform include Kingdom Hearts – HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and even Kingdom Hearts III. Nintendo has used cloud technology before to bring several technically demanding titles, such as Hitman 3 and Control, to Switch in the past. The Kingdom Hearts games do not have a release date for streaming on Nintendo Switch yet, but when they release, they will be sold individually and also in a bundle called Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud.

This marks the first time any numbered Kingdom Hearts game will be available to Nintendo console owners. The Disney and Final Fantasy crossover action RPG series got its start on PlayStation 2, with a number of sequels and side stories arriving on other consoles throughout the last decade and a half. Currently, Switch owners only have access to Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, another one of the franchise’s many spinoffs.

The surprise announcement was talked about during the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation, where game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that Kingdom Hearts protagonist Sora will be joining the fighting game as its final DLC character. Though Sora won’t be bringing Donald and Goofy (or really much of any Disney representation), his inclusion has been desired by fans for years. It’s also nice to know that those unfamiliar with Kingdom Hearts will get the opportunity to experience each game on a Nintendo console for the first time when the cloud versions of Kingdom Hearts – HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III finally release.
