NetherRealm Studios has released a swath of new downloadable content for Injustice: Gods Among Us including a new character, new costumes and a new patch for the fighter.
KNEEL BEFORE … well, you get the idea.
General Zod is now available for download in Injustice: Gods Among Us. This marks the fourth DLC character added to the game, as well as the end of the “first season” of Injustice DLC characters. There are more characters coming – Martian Manhunter is all but guaranteed to join the cast – but they will not be covered by the extant Season Pass, and you’ll have to shell out more cash to further expand the game’s roster.
If you never purchased the Injustice Season Pass, you’re going to need to throw down some cash to download Zod. Specifically, $5. While you’re debating that purchase, why not watch that video embedded at top right? It’s a newly-released look at the character’s history courtesy NetherRealm Studios.
Ah, but Zod isn’t the only new addition to Injustice. NetherRealm seems to be growing more generous as time goes on, as today’s batch of DLC also includes a number of new skins for existing characters. The Man of Steel skin, for instance, is a new look for Superman based on the aesthetic seen in his latest theatrical incarnation. It will set you back $1.
For $3 each you could pick up the New 52, Earth 2 or Blackest Night 2 skin packs. Each includes three new costumes based on various points in DC’s canonical history. The Blackest Night 2 pack, for instance, is based on a storyline that saw many of DC’s heroes killed then resurrected into what were more or less superpowered zombies.
As for who exactly gets new duds: The New 52 pack adds new costumes for Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, the Earth 2 pack introduces additional outfits for Solomon Grundy, The Flash and Hawkgirl, and the Blackest Night 2 pack includes bonus costumes for Batman, Aquaman and Hawkgirl. Apparently NetherRealm loves Hawkgirl. Who knew?
In addition to all of these new skin packs, the previously pre-order exclusive Zombie Mode can now be purchased for $1. At any higher price point it wouldn’t be worth the scratch as the Mode is basically just a zombie-themed modifier for how Injustice normally functions anyway, but $1 isn’t all that much cash. Completionists will presumably want to grab it.
Finally, NetherRealm released the 1.05 patch for Injustice. This one’s gratis and your game should automatically pull it down the next time you fire it up. There’s some big changes to the game included in this patch, so if you’re interested to learn more, please visit the official patch notes. Alternately you can just ignore all of that info and be happy with the free “Flashpoint Batman” skin NetherRealm included alongside the update.
On a related note, those of you who play Injustice on the Wii U will be happy to hear that the game now has a wide array of DLC available. Almost everything seen in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 incarnations of the game can now be purchased from the Wii U eShop, and, for the moment at least, Wii U players have exclusive access to the “Ame Comi” skin pack, a collection of new costumes based on how DC’s characters are portrayed in Japan. Unfortunately, they aren’t as weird as you’d imagine.
