Games for Windows Live is offering a sweet “deal of the week” with Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: The Complete Edition on sale for only ten bucks.

Okay, so nobody likes Games for Windows Live, and that’s fair. Let’s be honest: The selection of games is thin, it’s not particularly pleasant to use and Microsoft’s repeated commitments to PC gaming, which have thus far been distinctly lacking in follow-through, just expose the platform to ridicule. But a good deal is a good deal and the GFW Live “Deal of the Week” is, it must be said, a pretty good deal.

For $9.99, PC strategy fans can score themselves a copy of Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: The Complete Edition, which includes the original Civ 4, the Warlords and Beyond the Sword expansions and Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Colonization, a remake of the 1994 strategy classic Sid Meier’s Colonization. That’s a whole lot o’ Sid Meier for just ten bucks.

You’ll need to install the Games for Windows Live software in order to actually purchase and download the game and that might be a bit of a struggle, but a tenner for the whole Civilization IV enchilada is worth putting up with some hassle. If nothing else, it’s a great way to warm up for Sid Meier’s Civilization V, which is set for release on September 21. The Games for Windows Live Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: The Complete Edition Deal of the Week sale is on until September 1.
