Occurring on Saturday, Feb. 22, the workshop with Rockstar will be the most recent hosted by Girls’ Game Lab, following previous partnerships with Forza Horizon team Playground Games last August and RuneScape developer Jagex last month.

The event, which will take place at the studio in Edinburgh, is free and open to girls aged between 8 and 12, though tickets have already sold out. Anyone who missed out is able to sign up for a waitlist, with Girls’ Game Lab considering the possibility of a follow-up if there is enough interest for it.

As with previous events, attendees will have direct access to members of the development team and will be able to participate in a range of activities including designing mechanics, levels, assets, and narratives.

Girls’ Game Lab is an organization aiming to increase the representation of women in game development communities by inspiring young girls to get involved in the industry. A recent UK games industry census revealed that women make up just 28% of all developers, which is below the general standard for cultural and creative roles.

More about the ambitions of this group fostering interest in games are available in Patrick Lee’s interview with one of the key organizers, Caoimhe Roddy, for the Escapist.
