Kirby Fighters 2 Nintendo Switch eShop launch trailer

Kirby Fighters 2 Shadow Dropped to the Nintendo Switch eShop

This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information

Following a quickly removed accidental listing on the eShop Tuesday night, Nintendo has announced and launched Kirby Fighters 2 on Nintendo Switch. The game is a sequel to 2014’s 3DS game Kirby Fighters Deluxe, which itself was an expanded version of a minigame included in Kirby: Triple Deluxe.

In it, players choose from a range of different versions of Nintendo’s adorable fluffball (each with a unique Copy ability) and other characters to do battle against up to three other characters. Among the new additions to the series is a new Kirby variant — the Wrestler — as well as new stages and outfits to change Kirby’s appearance. The new additions bring the roster of playable Kirbys to 17 (up from 12 in Deluxe), alongside series regulars such as Meta Knight and Bandana Waddle Dee, which bring the total number of characters up to 22.

The game includes an arcade-styled Battle Mode against the AI and a Story Mode in which one or two players have to fight their way up a tower. Kirby Fighters 2 also includes multiplayer functionality for up to four players either locally (on one or multiple consoles) or online.

The launch trailer goes into detail about everything included in the game. Kirby Fighters 2 is available on the Nintendo Switch eShop now for $19.99.
