Like a Dragon: Ishin Is Coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC Globally in February

Sony’s State of Play has concluded. While it was a short presentation, there were a few bangers in there. One, in particular, came out of left field. The Ishin series, a Japan-only spinoff of the Yakuza franchise, is coming globally to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in February 2023 with a new engine. More specifically, Like a Dragon: Ishin, a remake of the 2014 Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin, is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC and will be the first title from RGG Studio to be built on Unreal Engine 4.

It looks gorgeous. There will be guns and blades aplenty in this samurai game set in the 1860s.

Sony revealed more details on the PlayStation.Blog. Like a Dragon: Ishin is being made by the developers behind Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It is set in Kyo, a fictionalized version of Kyoto. You’ll play as the real historical figure Sakamoto Ryoma, portrayed by Kazuma Kiryu. Expect other characters, like Goro Majima, to show up in this fictional setting. You can utilize the Swordsman and Gunman style or combine both with the Wild Dancer style. Or just beat the crap out of baddies with the Brawler style like in the mainline Yakuza entries. Heat actions will return, like one where you summon a tiger to claw your foes.
