A new mod has been released for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes transforming the game into a first-person stealth shooter.
One of the niftiest additions Grand Theft Auto V received when it was re-released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was its first-person mode. Coupled with modified controls, the new visual perspective offered players a completely new way to play and enjoy the game’s open world experience. Now, thanks to the work of one clever modder, PC fans of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes can now enjoy the same sort of conversion.
Created by a modder named Pao, the Ground Zeroes FPS Mod was released late last week and transforms the game’s third-person experience into a first-person stealth shooter. As with many mods though, there are some caveats. Namely, the mod currently includes some technical kinks that prevent the conversion from being a perfect one. One existing bug makes objects disappear when the player gets close to them. There are also issues with the visibility of the player’s body when not aiming, as well as problems with the game’s pistol animations. Pao, on the mod’s page, also recommends that players backup their game files on the off chance that the mod creates any unexpected problems.
Speaking as a Metal Gear fan though, I feel safe in saying that these issues are relatively small when weighed against the opportunity to experience the excellent (albeit brief) gameplay of Ground Zeroes in a new way. Gamers interested in taking Pao’s mod for a spin can find it here. Give it a download and let us know if the series stays solid (nycuk nycuk) when you turn it into an FPS.
