Microsoft Announces Xbox 360 Memory Upgrades

At the Game Developers Conference today, Microsoft announced plans to release a 512 MB memory unit for the Xbox 360 and increase the size limit for Xbox Live Arcade Games.

The 512 Memory Unit will be available in the U.S. April 3, 2007, and will sell for $49.99. The memory unit will come loaded with the Xbox Live Arcade title Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved for a limited time.

Starting today, the Xbox Live Arcade game size limit has increased from 50 MB to 150 MB. The new game size will offer game developers greater flexibility and opportunities for creativity, all while continuing to keep down file sizes and make downloading accessable to all.

Microsoft is showcasing a wide variety of Xbox Live Arcade Games at GDC this week:

Boom Boom Rocket, a rhythm music game; 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures, an outdoor sports game that is the first of its kind on Xbox Live Arcade; Eets Chowdown, a puzzle game; Jetpack Refuelled, a space blaster with 100-plus levels; and Pinball FX, which boasts 3D tables, online competetive play and Xbox Live Vision Camera support.
