Nintendo has revealed that ARMS fighter Min Min will be the latest DLC challenger to join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In a 35-minute video presentation hosted by director Masahiro Sakurai, the series creator laid out the fighter’s attacks and features in specific detail, announcing that the character will be added to the Nintendo Switch brawler on June 29.
The noodle-armed character was chosen instead of someone like Spring Man or Ribbon Girl because ARMS producer Kosuke Yabuki simply told Sakurai, “I want Min Min.” As many may have guessed, Min Min brings unmatched range to the playing field, giving even the most versatile Super Smash Bros. Ultimate competitors a run for their money. A new stage called Spring Stadium, 18 music tracks, and plenty of care come with the character when she launches next week. Joining Min Min’s reveal trailer are new paid Mii Fighter costumes; ARMS‘ Ninjara, Tekken‘s Heihachi, Splatoon‘s Callie and Marie, and, for some reason, Vault Boy from the Fallout series will join the fight next week, June 29. Additionally, Sakurai revealed that the team plans to continue releasing amiibo figures for DLC fighters, saying that Joker and Hero figures are planned to launch in fall 2o20.
Nintendo first teased a mystery ARMS fighter during a March 2020 Nintendo Direct Mini, saying that the character will come as the first inclusion to the game’s second round of DLC content.
Nintendo had confirmed on Friday that today’s presentation would contain no new information on the next fighter. Though Sakurai and the rest of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team were reluctant to share who will follow Min Min, this could be due to the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on the game’s development.
The first wave of five DLC fighters included Persona 5’s Joker, an assortment of characters from the Dragon Quest series, Banjo & Kazooie, Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ Byleth.
