Monster Hunter 4 is Coming to The West in 2015

Western Monster Hunter fans will finally get a version of 2013’s Monster Hunter 4 some time next year.

Japanese Monster Hunter fans have been enjoying Monster Hunter 4 on the 3DS since September last year, but English-speaking hunters have been given the cold shoulder from Capcom, who has, until now, refused to announce an English language version. Well thankfully, Capcom has today announced at its Hunter Festa ’13 event in Japan that Western fans will finally be getting a version of Monster Hunter 4, although they will have to wait until next year for it.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be coming exclusively to the Nintendo 3DS in early 2015, and rather than being a port of the original Monster Hunter 4, will actually be the Western release of Monster Hunter 4G, an updated version of the game that was also announced at the Hunter Festa event.

“While we wanted to maintain the familiar features that fans have come to love, we really wanted to evolve the series in a new direction, to appeal to existing players and attract new ones as well,” said Monster Hunter series Producer at Capcom Ryozo Tsuzjimoto in the accompanying announcement video, which you can watch above.

Tsuzjimoto explained that the MH4:U will introduce more vertical and lateral movement than previously seen in the series, which should open up new possibilities by expanding the range of player actions and creating more fluid and dynamic experiences.

As in the Japanese version of MH4:G, MH4:U will feature online as well as local wireless multiplayer.
