A number of notable developments emerged at the Destination PlayStation retailers’ conference.
The highly anticipated PlayStation 3 title, Metal Gear Solid 4, reportedly has a fixed release date now: June 12, 2008. Sony has been keen to highlight this year’s video game lineup since the platform’s current library is often compared unfavorably to the Xbox 360’s.
The title will also apparently be bundled with an 80GB PS3 and a DualShock 3, rumble-enabled controller, for $500. Currently Sony is offering MotorStorm and the SixAxis controller with the 80GB PS3 at that price point.
Also announced for the summer was a new PSP bundle. A solid red PSP and God of War: Chains of Olympus will retail for $200.
