A new trailer for the upcoming third-person RPG The Witcher, mixing new scenes from the game’s intro and outro with previously-shown footage, has been posted on Gametrailers.com.
At just over two minutes long, the video displays the impressive cinematic qualities of the game’s introduction and cutscenes. While no gameplay footage is included, the trailer does provide a clear look at the distinct medieval/fantasy setting in which the game will take place, as well as of a few of the creatures that populate the gameworld.
The Witcher is a long-anticipated action-RPG from Polish developer CD Projekt. Based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of short stories and novels, The Witcher puts the player in the role of Geralt, a supernaturally-powered monster killer, as he travels the medieval countryside in search of a hidden evil that threatens the entire world.
Powered by a modified version of BioWare’s Aurora Engine, the game will feature highly-detailed visuals, an impressive physics model, and offer players multiple options for quest and problem solving throughout. Day and night transitions, as well as dynamic weather effects, will also serve to heighten the game’s ambiance.
The Witcher is being published by Atari, and is expected to be released in the final quarter of 2007.
