No Man’s Sky Gets 32-Person Multiplayer, Free Upgrades on PS5, XSX

No Man’s Sky is joining the growing list of current-gen games coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. Hello Games’ expanding sci-fi game will launch alongside Sony and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles in November, bringing a host of upgrades with it. Better yet, those that already own the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version for free.

The No Man’s Sky 3.10 update features fuller worlds for players on next-gen and PC platforms, including thicker grasses, flowers, fungi, and rocks that all feature higher-resolution textures and more detailed geometry. Bases are seeing an upgrade as well, with players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC able to build “larger and more complex builds.” Another major change coming to next-gen console versions of the game is support for multiplayer with up to 32 players.

Hello Games states that players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be able to experience No Man’s Sky at 4K 60 FPS, though Xbox Series S owners will only be able to choose between high-quality native resolution at 30 FPS or high performance at 60 FPS. In addition to the aforementioned upgrades, next-gen console players on all systems will experience load times that are “ten times faster” than on current-gen consoles. Those that make the jump from current- to next-gen will also be able to play with their existing save data.

PlayStation 5 owners will have some exclusive features thanks to the Sony console’s unique offerings. For example, No Man’s Sky on PlayStation 5 will take advantage of the DualSense’s haptic feedback and 3D audio technology. PlayStation VR owners will be able to utilize the virtual reality headset on PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility.

PlayStation 5 launches Nov. 12 and Xbox Series X | S launches Nov. 10, so expect to play your upgraded versions of the game then.
