It turns out that the Mortal Kombat PS3 DLC situation in Europe that has gamers in such an uproar is just a “technical issue” that will be corrected next week.
European Mortal Kombat fans were not a happy bunch yesterday when word got out that Skarlet, a character released to North American PS3 owners a day prior, was not available in their market. Even worse, the Klassic Skin Pack, which sells for $4.99 on our side of the pond, was listed at Ā£5.49/€6.99 in Europe, almost double the U.S. price. Feedback on the European PlayStation Blog was, you might say, not entirely enthusiastic.
But it turns out that the whole thing was just a misunderstanding. “Unfortunately, due to some technical issues, the Mortal Kombat Skarlet DLC will not be available to PSN users in Europe until next week,” WBIE said in a statement. “We apologize for any inconvenience but assure fans that Skarlet and her fatalities are on the way.”
“To clarify, the posted price of the Klassic Skins Pack on PSN is incorrect and is currently being rectified to Ā£3.19 for UK users and €3.99 for European users,” it continued. “All users will have access to the compatibility pack and free classic skins – Cyrax and Sektor – once Skarlet is available.”
Sure enough, the Mortal Kombat Klassic Skin Pack is now listed at Ā£3.19/€3.99 on the EU PlayStation Blog, which puts it pretty much on par with U.S. pricing. So just relax, everyone! You’ll be dressing up in a red two-piece and ripping out spines in no time.
