Russian software company Akella has released a Vista-only rolling benchmark for its upcoming naval combat simulator, PT-Boats: Knights of the Sea.
The benchmark provides a look at the game’s DirectX 10 visuals, including effects such as soft particles, reflections, light beams, and advanced transparency and HDR for gunfire and sunlight, and gives gamers the opportunity to test the performance of the game’s high-end visuals. For best performance, Akella is recommending either an ATI Radeon HD2900 or 2600 with the Catalyst 7.9 driver, or an Nvidia GeForce 8800 or 8600 with driver version 163.71 for Vista.
PT Boats: Knights of the Sea puts players in command of a Russian, German or Allied “mosquito fleet” of small, fast ships during the Second World War. The game includes both a “direct action” mode allowing control of individual ship stations, and an RTS mode for strategic maneuvers and decision-making.
While the benchmark is DirectX10 only, the full version of the game, scheduled for late 2007, will support DirectX 9 as well. The rolling benchmark is available for download here, and more information can be found at the official PT Boats: Knights of the Sea website.
