The Biohazardcast continues to receive rumors about what Resident Evil 8 will be like. The site previously gave some interesting information on the alleged horror title earlier this year saying it will once again be in first-person and will star a returning Ethan Winters, the protagonist of the previous installment. These new details expand on what was said last time and come from the same unverified leaker. It’s important to treat all of this as only rumors though.

Fresh details include the alleged title of Capcom’s upcoming game. Similar to how the Roman numeral of seven was highlighted in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard‘s box art, the next entry in the series will allegedly be called Resident Evil 8: Village. The first three letters of the subtitle will be made to look like the Roman numeral for eight.

After the initial leak, German outlet claimed that they had heard similar information, not with the name but with a detail that that there is a witch chasing down Ethan, which will be a reoccurring antagonist in Resident Evil 8. Biohazardcast’s leaker gave new details on the witch, who is said to use insects to manifest itself. Once defeated, she dissipates back into the insects. These powers are similar to what was seen with Marguerite in Resident Evil 7.

Beyond Ethan returning, the rumor also claims that Chris Redfield will return. It says that he’ll play an “integral” role in the title and that he appears in several flashbacks that give new details on Ethan, his wife Mia, and their child. Redfield isn’t said to be a hero, which fits into Resident Evil 7‘s Not A Hero DLC, as he’s apparently seen shooting either Ethan or Mia in a flashback and breaking into their home.

While Resident Evil 8‘s release date isn’t imminent, the rumor says it’s slated to release in the first quarter of 2021. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic impacting the entire games industry, it notes that the release time frame could change. Listen to these rumors at your discretion.
