Resident Evil Star Confirms Fifth Movie

There’s more cinematic Resident Evil coming, and will be at least partially based on fan suggestions.

Resident Evil: Afterlife star Milla Jovovich says that the success of the movie has guaranteed another sequel. Afterlife opened in theaters on Friday, and made over $70 million dollars in just three days.

Jovovich remarked that it was the first movie in the series to be number one in the box office worldwide, and that director Paul W.S. Anderson – who is also Jovovich’s husband – already had ideas for the fifth installment, and planned to supplement them with input from fans. “We’ve been talking to a lot of fans on Twitter and stuff, so it’s probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see. It’s going to be a more interactive process.”

With the movie continuity so far removed from the games, asking fans what they’d like to see seems a teensy bit redundant at this point. Even so, it still could be quite exciting to see someone like Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil 2 or maybe even Sheva from Resident Evil 5 battling zombies alongside Milla Jovovich’s superhuman clone ninja.
