Budding faux rockers who are late to the game can now pick up the original for a much tastier price.

Rock Band is still raking in some crazy money, and it’s currently the top-selling title of 2008 to date. With Rock Band 2 already available for Xbox 360 and PS3 and soon to be launched for Wii and PS2, MTV Games, Harmonix, and EA can certainly afford to sweeten the pot by chopping the original bundle’s price tag. Fortunately for you, dear reader/consumer, that’s exactly what they’ve done.

The PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii versions of the Special Edition Rock Band bundle (previously $159 and $169 respectively) have now both had their prices reduced down to the substantially lower cost of $99. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the bundle were $169 and have be cut to $140, a slightly lesser drop but still a good bargain. The bundles for each console include the original game, a guitar, microphone, and drum kit. The instruments can be used with Rock Band 2 for respective systems.
