SimCity’s Futuristic Expansion Pack Touches Down in November

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow will train the next generation of city planners.

When SimCity hit retail shelves in March, it was plagued with technical difficulties and customer complaints. And even though the title has been stable for quite some time, much of the player base remains skeptical. But Maxis, the developer behind SimCity, wants everyone to forget about the past and focus on the future.

SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow, the title’s first expansion pack, will include several new regions, a handful of revolutionary specializations, a few unfamiliar transportation methods, and a collection of new technologies. So, you should have everything you’ll need to craft your own futuristic dystopia.

“Will the world of tomorrow be a utopia powered by clean energy or an industrial society consumed by mass commercialism?” said Patrick Buechner, General Manager at Maxis Emeryville. “With SimCity Cities of Tomorrow, players can build the future as they imagine it. Transport your Sims on MagLev, power your cities with fusion reactors or tidal wave generators, manufacture a legion of drones to serve your Sims and build massive MegaTowers that dwarf modern skyscrapers. We’re giving you plausible technologies to take your cities onto a journey 50 years into the future. What will you create?”

Cities of Tomorrow will be released on November 12th. Hopefully the launch will go smoothly this time.
