Simpsons Supercut Features 10 Seasons Of Movie References

This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

In news from the “things that you didn’t know you wanted to see” department, we present two clips featuring every film reference made during the first ten seasons of The Simpsons.

The Simpsons is undeniably a cultural landmark. Say what you will about recent seasons being less than brilliant, but even in its worst moments, The Simpsons still manages to surpass the vast majority of other comedies found on broadcast television.

As with all things intensely witty, much of the success of The Simpsons springs from the encyclopedic pop culture knowledge of its creators. When I mentioned above that we have two supercuts for you featuring every movie reference The Simpsons made during its first ten years on the air, you probably expected quite a few of them, right? You can likely remember many of them off the top of your head. But were any of you expecting a combined runtime of over 40 minutes? Even more impressively, there’s almost no filler in these clips, so this footage stands as over half an hour of pure, yellow-skinned callbacks to films as disparate as JFK and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

That’s far more explanation than any of you require to enjoy this footage, so let’s get right to it. The video embedded above collects all of the film references in the first five seasons of The Simpsons, while the clip below covers seasons six through ten. Now sit back, relax and consider this a momentary break from the bleak drudgery that is modern life.
