Sony Has Big Expectations for LittleBigPlanet

Sony expects the upcoming October title LittleBigPlanet to rake in more sales than Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Edition.

The latter hit shelves at March and has gone on to become the fastest-selling PS3 title, and is credited with boosting PS3 sales by 14 percent.

“We’re hoping sales will be higher than GT5 Prologue,” revealed David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

LittleBigPlanet, which was pushed a month back from a September release just yesterday, has been demonstrated at various conferences by the developers and is expected to appeal to a wider and more casual-oriented audience. It will also tap into Sony’s planned Home online community, due out by the end of the year.

“These are genre-defining titles, something we’re very proud of, and just one facet of the rapidly growing world of PlayStation,” said Kaz Hirai, president of SCEA, during Sony’s PlayStation Day in London yesterday.
