Two Guys from Andromeda plan to make a new space-comedy adventure game.

If you grew up in the 80s and played games, chances are you fondly remember the slew of adventure games from Sierra. Games like King’s Quest and Leisure Suit Larry were staples on my brother’s Amiga, but I had a special place in my heart for the comic adventures of lowly janitor-cum-spaceman Roger Wilco in Space Quest. The two men behind Space Quest – the “Two Guys from Andromeda” Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy – announced with a video to fans this weekend they have joined forces once again and work has begun on a new adventure game in the same vein. It’s unclear if the game will star Roger Wilco or bear the name Space Quest – they call it Spaceventure right now – but expect a lot of bad puns and skewering of sci-fi and pop culture.

“We’re very excited that we are back working together again and that Two Guys’ creative synergy is still there,” said Mark Crowe.

“Synergy? Really?” quipped Scott Murphy.

The video announcement is rendered in a way to make it look like the old animated style of Sierra games, complete with fake noses.

In addition to a few funny videos, Two Guys from Andromeda have commissioned a website, a YouTube Channel, Facebook page, and a Twitter account to promote awareness of the project.

The pair picked a great moment to reenter the game development landscape, as interest in adventure games is probably at a fifteen year high, thanks to Tim Schafer’s Double Fine Adventure and its amazing success on Kickstarter. Oddly, Two Guys aren’t crowdfunding their new game, but have instead formed a company, conceivably with their own money or through investors, and hired professional game designers to help make their game a reality. There are a still a few positions available, if you’re interested.

For now, be comforted a new title from the minds that brought you Roger Wilco’s fantastic deaths and might have started the whole keycard trope are busy making something new.

Hopefully, we’ll get to play Space Quest X: Latex Babes of Estros one day.

Thanks to PC Johnston for the tip.
