TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Video Takes Fans Behind the Scenes

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

Publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games have begun a behind-the-scenes video series to give fans something to chew on until Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge launches for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this year. Episode 1 of the development series, called “Once Upon a Shell,” offers about five minutes of interviews with Technical Director Jean-François Major and Executive Producer Cyrille Imbert. They discuss their relationship and fondness for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as how their nostalgia-fueled beat ’em up came to be.

Major previously worked on another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for Game Boy Advance. He says that opportunity was a dream come true but acknowledged that the device’s limitations kept it from offering a true multiplayer experience. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, however, has given him a chance to offer a more authentic experience on a wide variety of consoles, as this behind-the-scenes video illustrates.

“Contributing to an iconic universe like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an incredible opportunity on any level, but even after completing a TMNT project years ago, I always held out hope that I’d be able to create an experience set in the original era that inspired so much of my childhood wonder,” Major said in a statement. “We finally found a partner that shares Tribute Games’ passion for the Heroes in a Half Shell’s debut. Getting to continue the legacy of the classic, beloved TMNT beat-em-ups that fans around the world grew up playing is surreal.”

It’s nice to see that the developers working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge have a long history with the turtles. More behind-the-scenes videos will likely arrive as we wait for a more concrete release date, so keep checking in for more updates. Until then, you can watch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge behind-the-scenes video above.
