Civilization V Special Edition Unboxing

Firaxis and 2K Games managed to make a good thing even better today with the release of the Civilization V Special Edition. If you’ve already read Greg Tito’s excellent review of the game, you know it’s one game that no serious strategy fan can do without. Hardcore fans of the series won’t want to stop at just getting a download code, though. For an extra fifty bucks, you might be able to snag one of the Special Editions.

The box includes a 176-page art book that reveals in-game assets, concept pieces, historical notes and comments from the artists themselves. It’s an amazing book, not just for fans of the game, but for fans of art in general. If you’re not a fan of printed material in today’s digital world, there’s also a “Making of” DVD and a double-CD soundtrack of the excellent music in the game. There are also five exclusive miniatures made by Reaper Miniatures – a barbarian, a swordsman, a rifleman, a longbowman and a super death robot.

Oh, and it also comes with a copy of the game.
