Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Will Not Contain Microtransactions

The developer behind Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Toys for Bob, has clarified that its upcoming platformer will not contain microtransactions, despite speculation suggesting otherwise. Worry began when fans took notice of the phrase “Offers in-app purchases” next to the game’s price tag on the Microsoft Store, suggesting that Activision has plans to implement microtransactions of some kind. However, Toys for Bob has squashed that theory on Twitter.

At least as far as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time’s launch is concerned, there is no plan for microtransactions. Though an update could come with in-game purchases at a later date just as with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Toys for Bob’s tweet should ease concerns that the publisher will lock any content behind a paywall. For now, additional content looks to be limited to the Totally Tubular skins that come with digital purchases.

The game was revealed just last week, debuting a revamped look for Crash and his cast of familiar characters. Along with a technical upgrade that has the bandicoot looking as good as ever, the game will feature new masks, levels, and other unique gameplay mechanics.

Activision and Toys for Bob’s Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time launches on Oct. 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
