There’s plenty of video game news to discuss today, like the reveal of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season Five roadmap, Take-Two’s interesting comment about next-generation game prices, Fall Guys coming out the gate swinging with a huge player base, and more. Here is the video game news you might’ve missed on Aug. 4, 2020.
Take-Two Will Price Its Games on a “Title-by-Title Basis”
Many of us were worried about next-generation games going up in price following 2K’s announcement that NBA 2K21 would be $70 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While this hasn’t changed, 2K’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, shed some light on the future of its games’ prices going forward.
During an earnings call last night, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company would be “announcing pricing on a title-by-title basis,” leading many to believe its games would not be the same price across the board. So far, NBA 2K21 is the only instance of a $70 next-gen game — and it’s unclear how much games will cost from other publishers.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season Five Roadmap Detailed
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season Five will be ready to go tomorrow, and we now have an official roadmap for what to expect in terms of content. As expected, you’ll get new weapons like the AN-94 and the ISO, as well as new challenges and an Operator named Lerch. Most exciting are the changes coming to Warzone‘s map, Verdansk, which will feature moving trains, along with the opening of the mysterious stadium. There’s even a new mode called Mini Royale.
Modern Warfare will also see some new maps. Later on, a mid-season drop will feature new modes and more. Remember, users can pre-load Season Five on PlayStation 4 right now.

Marvel’s Avengers Will Offer Even More Exclusive Perks on PlayStation
Like adding salt to a wound, today it was revealed that Marvel’s Avengers will feature even more exclusive perks on PlayStation — in addition to presenting Spider-Man as an exclusive character. A post on the PlayStation.Blog explains that PlayStation players will have 30 days of exclusive access to a Legendary Outfit, Emote, Epic Takedown, and nameplate for each new hero. Meanwhile, we already knew PS4 players would have access to the game’s beta first, with those who preordered on PS4 able to jump in starting on Aug. 7.
We also learned that PS Plus members will gain 100 Credits and other goodies for each new character that’s released. Exclusive deals with multiplatform games have been mostly criticized by the community, and the reception to Marvel’s Avengers‘ exclusive PlayStation content has been no different.
August’s PS Now Lineup Headlined by Hitman 2
Three new games are available through PS Now starting today, and they’re all quite different from one another. PS Now members can enjoy GreedFall, Dead Cells, and Hitman 2 — the latter two of which will be available through February 2021. Despite having a robust library of over 800 games, PS Now has struggled to set the world on fire, but many are expecting the service to improve with the start of the next generation. You can grab a PS Now membership for $59.99 for a year, $24.99 for three months, or $9.99 for a month.
Fall Guys Enjoys a Strong Start on Launch Day
Fall Guys, the latest multiplayer party game to take the industry by storm, seems to be getting off on the right foot, at least based on Steam stats earlier today. At around 8 a.m. ET, it had over 120,000 players on Steam alone, not counting all of the users on PlayStation 4. We imagine PS4 had terrific stats as well, due to its being made available as a PS Plus game.
It’s unclear how many users have downloaded it through PS Plus, but it’s a safe bet to assume Fall Guys is doing well on that platform, too. We’ll likely see more statistical info when NPD results are revealed next month.
