Halo Infinite to Miss Campaign Co-op & Forge at Launch, Multiplayer Split-Screen PC Delayed Too

In a new August development update for Halo Infinite, 343 Industries has announced that it will be delaying the release of both campaign co-op and Forge for the game. Additionally, the multiplayer split-screen function for the PC version has been pushed back.

“We made the really tough decision to delay shipping campaign co-op for launch, and we also made the tough call to delay shipping Forge at launch as well,” said creative head Joseph Staten. The reason for the delay is that the studio wanted to make sure that whatever gameplay features are shipping with Halo Infinite meet the top quality bar on both Xbox and PC. When looking at both Halo Infinite co-op campaigns and Forge, these two components are simply not ready.

As a result, 343 will keep working on both of those until next year and release them as part of Halo Infinite‘s seasonal roadmap. Each season is about three months, so the co-op campaign is aiming to launch in season 2, which is three months after launch, while Forge is planned to come six months after launch during season 3.

As with split-screen, while the feature wasn’t available in the beta test earlier this month, 343 confirmed that it will be shipping on the Xbox consoles at launch. On PC, there are some technical challenges as well as different configurations and issues regarding split-screen. But it is something that the studio will continue to work on post-launch.

The exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, but 343 will be revealing it soon. However, the studio is committed to releasing Halo Infinite in holiday 2021 with the campaign and season 1 of the free-to-play multiplayer.
