Halo Infinite Multiplayer Confirmed to Be Free to Play & Support 120FPS on Series X

Following rumors that Halo Infinite would have a free-to-play multiplayer component and would support 120 FPS on Xbox Series X, developer 343 Industries has officially confirmed the facts. The studio simply tweeted out confirmation that both of these rumors were true and said that we can expect more details at a later date.

Free-to-play multiplayer aside, there have been additional rumors pointing towards Xbox Live Gold being on its way out as well, as Microsoft has removed several of the monthly subscription tiers recently.

Halo Infinite has received some criticism regarding its graphics, and the studio says it is working to address those issues and live up to fan expectations. 343 Industries recently reiterated its intention to deliver 4K resolution at 60 FPS for the game on Xbox Series X. However, there was no confirmation of how the game will perform on Xbox One.

Halo Infinite multiplayer has not yet been showcased, and campaign gameplay was only finally revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase last week. 343 Industries has also hinted that the game will be a “platform” and receive substantial post-launch support, saying, “It’s really about creating Halo Infinite as the start of the next ten years for Halo and then building that as we go with our fans and community.”

Halo Infinite is set to launch holiday 2020 for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
