Halo Infinite Visual Fidelity Being Improved, Rumored to Have F2P Multiplayer & Run Up to 120FPS

The multiplayer segment of Halo Infinite may be free to play, and the game may support up to 120 frames per second (FPS) on Xbox Series X. The rumor comes courtesy of a console features list supplied by Smyths, a multinational toy company based in Ireland (spotted by Twitter user Wario 64).

To date, developer 343 Industries has focused on a goal of providing 60 FPS at 4K resolution for the campaign. That goal was reiterated in a recent blog post on Halo Waypoint. It also says that PC players will be able to tweak a range of settings to “create the experience you want.”

Confirmed Halo Infinite multiplayer details will be released in the coming months in the lead-up to the game’s holiday launch window, with tentative hopes to offer a widely available hands-on beta.

However, the blog post did address some of the criticisms raised by fans in response to the extensive gameplay demonstration shared last week. Pertinently, they stated the build showcased was already several weeks old, and the team has already made progress in addressing some of the complaints about the overall fidelity. Even so, some of the criticisms “have brought new opportunities and considerations to light that the team is taking very seriously and working to assess.”

The post also channel’s Todd Howard’s infamous promotion of Skyrim in reference to the presence of kill barriers: “we’ve tried to reduce these as much as possible in Halo Infinite. There will always be some exceptions, but usually if you can see it, you should be able to go there.”
