With Gamescom on the horizon, Sega has launched a cryptic teaser website for something called “HMKD.”

Falling in line with most teaser websites, there is not a lot of information handed out. In fact, the only thing giving fans something to chew on for now, aside from the HMKD letters, is the below image and the option to sign up for a Sega newsletter.

Sega HMKD Humankind reveal at Gamescom

However, in December of last year, Sega filed a similarly mysterious trademark in Japan for a project called “Humankind.” The HMKD abbreviation is almost surely linked to the trademark, but anything past the trademark and site image has yet to be shared. Nonetheless, HMKD is likely to be the all-new AAA project Sega has promised to unveil at Gamescom this year.

The AAA project will be featured alongside other Sega titles like Catherine: Full Body, Two Point Hospital, and their upcoming nostalgia trip, the Sega Genesis Mini/Mega Drive Mini. The Mega Drive Mini specifically was recently delayed by a few weeks in Europe and will now release Oct. 4 of this year.

Considering Gamescom begins on Monday evening, a proper reveal for what “Humankind” is may be just around the corner. Stay tuned for updates on this secretive new project.
