We’re halfway through the week, and the video game news doesn’t stop coming. Sony released its financial results for Q3 2020, announcing that PlayStation 5 has shipped 4.5 million units, The Medium‘s Bloober Team is ramping up for its next project, Activision banned 60,000 Call of Duty: Warzone cheaters, and more. Bloober Team Is Already Working on a New Project

Following the release of psychological horror game The Medium, developer Bloober Team is already gearing up for its next project. This comes by way of Artur Łączkowski, a designer at the company, who shared that the team is hiring a combat programmer, VFX artist, concept artist, and more. It’s unclear what the new project is or if it’ll fall under the horror genre like the previous games.

PS5 Software Update Fixes PS4 Disc Installation Issue

The latest PlayStation 5 software update is available to download now. It improves system performance and fixes an issue with PlayStation 4 disc installations. Specifically, Sony explained, “In rare cases, the PS4 version of a game would install from the disc after you upgraded to and installed the PS5 version. Now, when you insert the PS4 game disc, the PS4 version won’t install unexpectedly.” This has been fixed.

EA Has Made $3 Billion from Star Wars Games During Exclusivity Deal

Amid EA’s holding the exclusive rights to the Star Wars license, the franchise has generated over $3 billion for the publisher, as revealed during a recent investor call. Since the exclusivity deal started in 2013, EA has sold more than 52 million copies of Star Wars games (as of Dec. 31, 2020). Now, that exclusivity is ending, but that doesn’t mean EA will stop publishing Star Wars games. However, other developers like Ubisoft will be able to develop Star Wars projects.

Activision Bans Over 60,000 Warzone Cheaters

In light of the major cheating problem in Call of Duty: Warzone, Activision has stepped in and banned over 60,000 accounts across all platforms. To date, the company has banned over 300,000 cheaters in Warzone, though the problem has run rampant in recent memory — including players who can turn invisible, negate death while in the gas, auto-lock to achieve 100% accuracy, and other issues. This will hopefully make a dent in the huge pool of cheaters found in Warzone.

PS5 Shipped 4.5 Million Units in 2020

As revealed during Sony’s recent Q3 2020 results, PlayStation 5 has shipped over 4.5 million units as of Dec. 31, 2020. This is on par with the PS4 during its first two months on the market in 2013. Sony also revealed that during Q3 2020, 18.4 million first-party games were sold across PS4 and PS5 and that 103.7 million games were sold in total across both platforms. Despite production issues, Sony expects to ship  7.6 million PS5 systems by March 2021.
