Your list needs more Space Marine

No idea how Zelda made it on there when Space Marine didn't.

Because Zelda is an established videogame series beloved by many which consistently produces high quality games.
Same reason a Mario title would be on this list before Space Marine, among various other games.

That's not to say Space Marine will be inferior to any of these titles, its just not as highly anticipated.

So it's pretty much the same reasons Space Marine should be on the list given the high quality Dawn of War series? Seriously I'm pretty sure more people care about Space Marine then an elf in tights.

If you really think Dawn of War is on the same tier popularity-wise as the Legend of Zelda series then you're either a fool or... no, clearly you're a fool.

And to top it off your last little comment makes you sound like the ignorant frat boy stereotype I hear so much about. To whom anything that isn't decked out in massive armour/muscles is a threat to your fragile sexuality.

Again, not saying this is accurate as such, but you're certainly not giving anyone reason to believe otherwise.

This article is heresy, the inquisition have ordered...

...exterminatus for lack of W40K: Space Marine!

Firstly look at the rest of this thread, quite a few other people would have liked to see Space Marine on it. Secondly I'm not all about space marines or giant muscles, actually I've always been more of a thinker, for example I own Civilization 2, 3, 4, and 5. I play every game in the Total War series. The game I've been playing most is Inindo: Way of the Ninja followed by Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy X, three RPGs I never actually beat. One of my favorite games of all time is Front Mission 3. As for my sexuality, I have and play Rumble Roses XX. Do I fit your stereotype now?

All ready buying BF3 and Skyrim, when i save more i might buy Rage with a friend and Dark souls, then i'll be set for a year!

but until then F2P all the way.

don't see the hype in Space marines but hey i only played one W40K game and that was because it was RTS not Gears of war-esk

TO ME MY BROTHAS, THERES LOTS HERE NEEDS BURNING!

Seriously though, there's been a heck of a lot of Space Marine news lately and I'm disappointed at the lack of coverage.

That is a very very long image in there, open at own risk. If there's a problem with that take it up with the commissar.

And you'll notice my argument was never that Space Marine shouldn't be on the list.
You claimed that if Zelda was on the list, Space Marine should be too. It was a flawed comparison, and to be perfectly honest it sounded more like an insult towards Zelda games than a complaint regarding the lack of Space Marine.

So yes, Space Marine clearly belongs on the list, but that has nothing to do with the already present contents of that list.

And no, you don't fit the stereotype, but as I said, prior to now, you'd given me no reason to see you otherwise.
I mean, come on. "An elf in tights" seriously?

No Red Orchestra 2!? The game is going to revolutionize PC FPS.

I said it before and Ill say it again
WHERE IS KIRBY RETURNS TO DREAMLAND!

Makes me wonder how they determine the Most Anticipated Game. Do they do a survey or just base it off the previous game sales?

Why does every game in which water collects electricity the developers think they've done something amazing. Splintercell bioshock infamous and many many more.

- SpaceMarine
- Skyrim
- MineCraft (Official Release)

Thats about it for me...

*checks the list*

One agree.
One maybe.
And a lot of No's.

Well.. damn. Guess Im a bad person now..

I agree that the list is missing Warhammer 40k Space Marine which I am looking forward too.

Other than that...

Skyrim - check.
Deus Ex - check.
Arkham City - check.
MW3 - check.
BF3 - check.
RAGE - check.
Assassin's Creed revelations - check.

Well now,it seems that Escapist managed to check off a "few" games that I am anticipating this year as well.

Sartan0:
Is it sad that the only one I have my eye on is Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

Considering how awesome it looks and how a lot of the others are just direct sequels (whereas this is probably barely related to earlier games' settings) I don't think so.

I like how my two most anticipated games are at the top :D

I wasn't even a fan of Dead Island until I saw a video of gameplay playing in gamestop like 3 days ago. Now I can't wait. 4 Player co-op, free-roam open-world rpg with unique loot, in-depth combat, guns and bullets are hard to find and there are zombies? I think someone might need to put me up on missing persons when this gets released, cuz if it holds up at all I'm gonna disappear from the civilized world for a time.

I keep hearing about what games are combined to make this concoction. Borderlands + Fallout + Left 4 Dead + Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (you can kick zombies and it takes stamina :D)

I keep complaining about over-hyped games but gahd does it look good.

Looks like an elf in tights to me unless the skin on his legs is really gray.
And yes I do think Space Marine can be compared to Zelda mostly because Space Marine has Relic behind it, the company that made the Homeworld series, Company of Heros, and of course the Dawn of War series.

Make a note to remind yourself of the following: When Space Marine comes out if it sucks I will apologize to you for thinking it could compare to Zelda.

I really hope Twisted Metal is actually good, I played Head On and it just didn't feel right...

Metal Gear Solid HD Remake.... oh yeah :)

Mmhmm, and I could say Space Marine was a game about meat heads on steroids. It may be accurate based on imagery, but its posed as an insult.

And having Relic behind them doesn't count for much when the Zelda series has Nintendo, y'know, the name old people still use to refer to anything that plays games (either that or they call it a playstation).

Zelda has more history than any of those games.
As does Nintendo.
Both Zelda and Nintendo are more likely to be (videogame related) household names than Space Marine and Relic.
There are more games in the Zelda series, almost all of which have been popular.

Make a note to remind yourself of the following: When Space Marine comes out if it sucks I will apologize to you for thinking it could compare to Zelda.

Except as stated, its not a case of how good the game is. Its a popularity contest and when it comes to videogames, Zelda is up near the top.
You need to realise that whilst Space Marine certainly belongs on the list (if the reaction here is anything to go by) it doesn't rival Zelda in terms of hype or anticipation.

Games I'm actually looking forward to this year: Catherine, The Last Guardian

I've got some bad news for you mate. The Last Guardian has been pushed back to the later half of 2012.

Really? Damn..

In other news I'm kinda excited to get my hands on Skyrim and Dark souls.. no Catherine or El Shaddai on the list kinda makes me sad, but still a pretty good list.. though a lot of them are sequals.. ah well.

The Escapist Staff:
Most Anticipated Games of 2011

The games you are (or should be) looking forward to in the last half of 2011.

You screwed up the order of CoD 3 and Uncharted 3.

I love how every game on here is either a sequel, a shooter, or both. Hooray for the state of the gaming industry.

I am so exited for BF3 its unreal. I do wish it would spark more peoples interest.

huh.

Well I only give a shit about one of those games.
Skyrim for the win.

Well I suppose I'm also looking forward to Dark souls. (I'm surprised they didn't call it Dark's souls) I never got to play Demon's souls so I guess I'll give it a shot.

The one that I most eagerly await is Dead Island. Hopefully, finally, a Zombie game that is true to the genre. Mixed expectations, though.

Other than that, well, Skyrim. Despite the fact that I had it thouroughly ignored it so far... how could I not want this?

Not a must, but a firm probably is Arkham City.

I hope Deus Ex doesn't suck but I predict it will. I mean maybe it will be good for a console game but I don't see how it can top the open world, open gameplay, and open story of DE1.

Oh god I'm going to lose my job this year

Wow, the video from Rage kind of took me by surprise. I hadn't really taken interest in the game, but it looks extremely good. Sure buy for me, as is Skyrim. My autumn is taken care of. :)

I haven't looked through the whole list but I'm gonna guess Under Night In-Birth isn't there. It and maybe Gears 3 are all I'm really looking forward to right now.

How is The Old Republic not on that list? (or am i stupid and just miss it).

Other than that it looks pretty good

Hmm, I might have to take a closer look. I am very sick of zombies but that might have enough cool elements to warrant more attention from me.

Naw, it just means we basically agree. Hello friend!

Oh, its 2011 DUH, i was thinking 2012...im all "somethings wrong here"
lol

Halo CE Anniversary will be fun! i cant wait for that or basically half of the titles on the list!

I don't care for any of those, really. But I'm waiting for Sturmwind and GunLord, coming this year for the mighty Dreamcast!

image IT'S STILL THINKING.

Was ME3 in there? Has that been set back again. I cannot quite remember from the list. I know I am looking forward to ME3!
