Well do we REALLY know what bob got up to in his younger days? Just sayin'.
Edit: Why is it that whenever I post I always wind up with 2-5 posts immediately one after another? Do I really type THAT fast? Do I always pop in when everyone else who otherwise would have something to say is either in the bathroom or sleeping or something? I feel like I'm always talking to myself.

In future, please combine your replies all into one post. Multiple posts are actually against our code of conduct (and just plain untidy).
Rogue 09: That was completely dreadful. It was not even good in a "that's so bad" kind of way. It's was actually pretty insulting to the memory of the once great series. You didn't really add anything to it, you just stood in front of a greenscreen and committed no less than an assault on that scene.
The worst part was probably Darth Vader's iconic voice replaced by MovieBob's incredibly stupid accent. I actually feel sick and you ruined my favorite holiday of the year.
I am so ashamed of all of you right now.
As you may know (if you read my previous post in this thread) the 4th of May has a different meaning in other countries. On this day in The Netherlands we remember all the people that were killed during the Second World War, and other wars, and remind the other generations of the horrors of war.
So let's put your outrage into perspective. You're angry over a few people on the internet posting a video in which they have some fun with a science fiction movie, while in another country 16 million people have 2 minutes of silence for all the victims of wars.
So, your favourite holiday of the year is ruined?
Yes, I know I made you look like a complete douche nozzle, it was intentional. Also: I am so ashamed of you right now.
Ok, if you didn't like the video, that's totally fine. It's really very silly and quite a mess, and I totally understand it not ringing your personal bell.
But you "actually feel sick"? And you're "ashamed" of us? I want you to think about what you're actually saying right there. I want you to, for a moment, consider that you think we should feel genuine shame over making a harmless internet video as a goof. You feel sick? SICK?
You're either seriously out of touch with reality, or just being needlessly insulting.
Nope, I did not like the video. Yes, I actually felt sick. I think that you should, for a moment, consider that people come to your website for quality videos and game / movie journalism. A lot of what is on this website "doesn't ring my personal bell", but I can typically just move on and avoid it in the future. This actually has lowered the bar so far that it hits the level of quality of some twelve year olds goofing around on Youtube. The kids can be forgiven, they know not what they do. You're not only adults, but supposed to be professionals who supposedly are supposed to have some respect for one of the great Sci-Fi franchises of all time.
Maybe I am a little sensitive because Star Wars fans are going through the Auschwitz treatment already with the prequels, and it seems like this is just kind of rubbing our noses in the terrible. You stirred a little fecal matter in our favorite soup, and I think that should be enough to make anyone sick.
Last time I checked, your website has a number of columns and articles of people who say a number of things that could be dubbed as "needlessly insulting". You don't get off the hook like the previously mentioned 12 year olds because you are professionals and should have standards for what you are posting on your website, and you now it seems like you have a very extreme case of "case dish it out but cannot take it"itis. Do you think that the people who made any of the games / movies your team bashes on don't have feelings too? So I would appreciate it if you were a little less indignant and actually earn any of the credentials towards professionalism that you clearly lost with this video.
Pff, damn son. Take it easy. It's just a group of people having fun enacting a scene from one of their favorite movies. The fact that it actually made you feel sick says more about you than it does about the Escapists. They were secure enough in their own love of a franchise to create a video that expresses that love in a completely and utterly cheesy manner.
My father can be completely secure in his love for my mother, but that doesn't mean that he should post a video whereby he trusses her up and reenacts my conception. If they wanted to have a grand ol' time reliving an amazing moment from the movies, I'm perfectly fine with it. When they begin posting it on their website, they actively open themselves the the well deserved criticism that comes with putting out such slop.
P.S. I did actually watch the tape of my parents going at it right after I watched this video to try to wipe the images from my mind. Tried the same trick after watching the Phantom Menace and JJ Abrams new Star Trek reboot. I don't know why I keep doing it... it never seems to work.

Okay? If you made me look like a "douche nozzle", I certainly don't feel it. See, over here in America we have other holidays where we recognize the losses of life in wars. So if Memorial Day happens to fall on your birthday, I certainly wouldn't expect you to recognize it, but I also wouldn't press my butt cheeks into you cake and say "You should really be fine with this, because over in America we're mourning the loss of life from wars". You see how taking two things from two separate cultures and trying to compare them when they land on the same day doesn't really work?
I got butt in my cake. The Escapist put that butt in there. It was a vanilla cake, but now there is something that appears to be chocolate running down the middle. But hey, somebody's mom was just diagnosed with cancer! Children are starving in India! Little Billy down the street just found out his Dad is sterile and has no idea who his real father is!
No, you're right. We should all be completely moody and dour because crappy things are happening all over the place rather than demand some professionalism and quality work from anyone anymore. Your life must be a dark dark place.
While I'm not going to go all "Burn 'em at the stake" like some other people in this thread, I have to admit, I just wasn't feeling this one. Not sure why. I give you guys an A- for effort, but it just didn't tickle my taint. Sorry.
So, apparently the Escapist doesn't like it when people provide honest feedback regarding videos, even when you're calling out a video that they admit is bad. So I'm re-posting, because I don't like it when people try to bully others into silence.

Hi all. I just want to say to the Escapists who participated in making this goofy little video that I sincerely appreciate it.
When I watched this May the 4th tribute, the first thing that came to mind was that this is exactly the type of thing that I would do with my own friends. This simple little premise of taking a scene of one of the most beloved sci-fi films of our time and putting yourselves in the roles of the characters to reenact it line-for-line mixed with a bit of over the top acting and cheesy added lines.
Watching the full eleven minutes as the role of each character was introduced, I could just see how you all came to the conclusion why Lisa was Luke or why Yahtzee wanted to be Ben or why Bob wanted to be Vader based on the characteristics they display when I watch them on a weekly basis. Everything about this made me feel like I was in some way a part of this because of the community that has been built around the contributors of this site.
However cheesy or messy the production of this video was, I understand why you guys wanted to share this with us on a day that we celebrate the love we have for Star Wars. It's clear that this was a product of your love for Star Wars. I appreciate that. It reminds me of why I love this site and the people on it.
You guys are the greatest, never let anyone tell you differently. May the Force be with you, always.

blah blah blah blah
You're on a high horse. Get off.
Beyond the usual "for the love of God, lighten up", it's not the act of "providing honest feedback" that got you banned. It's the fact that you were a TOTAL ASSHAT about it. They're not "bullying you into silence", they're removing you because you have no concept of what's appropriate response to a given situation ("Auschwitz situation", what the hell...), you're rude, you're insulting, you're incredibly inappropriate (why mention that you watch tapes of your parents having sex? SERIOUSLY, WAT) and you generally aren't acting like the kind of person who DESERVES to be listened to.
Also, you didn't have to repost. We can all see the post that got you banned.

Your posts are all within a couple of minutes of eachother in a day old thread. This is a big forum. but it's not that active that all threads have people typing out posts all the time.
RTR: I didn't know Jason and Colby were so goofy. Also, too bad they left out Gav. Why couldn't he get at least something tiny, like the same thing they did with Susan or something.
You should see the Star Wars Reel Physics episode if you want more goofy! Jason Dean REEL PHYSICS
Anyone who didn't know you guys were goofy as hell has obviously never stuck around for most of the blooper reels on your weekly shows. Kudos, fellas.

Well; that and the fact that they obviously made another account just to evade the ban. I quite appreciated the corniness of the video and I even laughed at some of the jokes.
For the record, honest feedback, we appreciate, as is evidenced by the number of people in this thread who commented on why they didn't enjoy the video and yet remain ban-free. Raging psychosis and banjumping? Yeah, that we're not big fans of.

In which case, although I wasn't originally going to post, I'll throw my hat into the ring.
It's not my cup of tea, but others seem to like it and so I assume you'd consider doing what some have suggested and doing Empire next year or whatever. Fair enough. However, I actually agree with the guy who said it was kinda painful to watch, and the main reason - awful, though presumably intentional, greenscreen aside - was that you guys didn't seem to have decided what you were trying to do. Was it supposed to be a parody? Then it could have done with a few more jokes and a bit less time doing what felt like a straight script reading. Felt like it relied quite heavily on "look, it's that guy from that show!" for the laughs. The only one who made me smile was Yahtzee who, intentionally or not, managed to give his lines an amusing subtext of "I could not possibly hate any of you any more than I do right now. Man, I wish I worked somewhere else" :-P
So there's my honest feedback. Make of it what you will!

Totally hear what you're saying. Truth is, we came up with the idea wayyyyyyy too close to May 4 for this to have really worked. We never should've tried it, there just wasn't enough time. But we're a bunch of dorks and we wanted to do *something* and so that's what we did. It would've benefitted greatly from a more unified approach, but we were largely making it up as we went. It's a hot mess, but it looks pretty much exactly like what it is - a bunch of really talented people who actually like each other goofing around with some video equipment.
I may be late to the party, but gods that was fun. :D

Well cast, well played, and, considering everything was done at great expense and at the last minute, well done. Improvisation may not have as much polish, but it can still create things of breat geauty.
Saarai-fan: So you guys doing Empire next year? Think the Duel on the Death Star II/Battle of Endor from Return would be more appropriate so as to allow a good amount of the Escapists some screen time.
Either that, or I wouldn't mind seeing more Star Wars parodies here on the Escapist if it were maybe once or twice a month. Think they'd be funny to watch.
That was hilarious, though I am a little confused as to why Lisa played Luke. I mean, I like her Top 5 lists and all, but she's not as big on the site as Yahtzee, Bob, LRR, Jim... Wouldn't it have made sense to give other people bigger roles? Whatever, still funny.

Luke's role in the first film was one of a hero's journey. Coming from humble beginnings but with great potential. Lisa's Top 5 has been on the site before, but she's probably the youngest contributor here.
Also, she's perky and eager with a high-pitched voice and a drive to take on the whole empire herself. Just like Luke in the original Star Wars!

That and Yahtzee probably didn't feel like recording himself acting in front of a camera. British repression and whatnot. (His words, not mine)
I wish that Foiles had ad-libbed a bit more; her lines felt a mite dry compared to everyone elses. Still, that was very fun to watch, and must have been more fun to make. :)
