Best Buy Employee "Outs" Straight Guy Pages PREV 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 NEXT
Because he isn't fond of gay ppl he is a moron? People who aren't fond of MacDonalds customers are morons alright. Yeah, makes no sense, brah. OT: He should sue. Even if he goofed and returned it logged into facebook, the other guy is supposed to be a professional and handle it professionaly. Thus simply logging him out and then getting to work.
So... when's this guy getting fired? I used to work CS and this would never fly at any of the places I worked at. Doesn't matter if the guy can refute it or not or if he's a homophobe, the Best Buy employee accessed a private account and misused it. If you find an unlocked car, does that give you permission to steal?
Or is it? We shall never know..... or shall we?
So being gay means you eat at MacDonalds? Which one of us is having trouble making sense again?
I like how you come to your own conclusion about someone's character by taking one quote and using it as your only source of evidence to back it up. Very neat. OT: Overreaction? Sure. Kinda dumb of him to make sure he didn't sign off? Yeah, but it was still messed up. I think getting the employee fired (which I think did end up happening) is enough, but exploring "legal options" is just too much.
I was thinking "Ok funny, but since it was done by somebody abusing their position at work I think that's crossing a line" "He apparently isn't very fond of homosexuals."
I dunno, not everyone LIKES the idea of other people they know thinking they take dicks up the ass.
hahaha | |
All he got was a simple "I am coming out, I am gay"? Please. A real master doesn't post a status. Too obvious. Here's how to really get someone stupid enough to leave Facebook on. 1) Change their info. For example, Looking For: "Men". Religion: "On My Knees to Please". Etc. If you can imply goat-rape, the better. 2) Delete the news feed of it. Be quick, you may not have a lot of time. 3) Log out for them. So they don't know they've been so stupid. Apparently, one of my friends lost a date because the girl who was thinking of asking him found out he was gay via Facebook, rather than just asking him. Is this harsh? Yes. But when the uni library is already too full, and you're just sitting on Facebook when there are people who really need to get some work done, even though you've got a laptop and I can see it in your bag you selfish... Don't leave your Facebook on in public. It's the same sort of lesson as "Don't forget to lock the front door of your house".
well this made my day, thank you
You do realize that he never actually said that, and that line is in the story out of a complete lack of journalistic integrity, right?
Nawwww a homophobic guy got a little shame on facebook. Get fucked mate.
"He apparently isn't very fond of homosexuals" was never even presented as a quote, I never said I thought it was a quote.
...whatever happened to accepting the fact that bad shit happens? I mean really, the guy gets his facebook page defaced and has to explain it to people.. and the person responsible loses his job. It happened, and it got taken care of. There are no save points in life. Move on, man.
Should this guy worry about his reputation being tarnished? Probably not, and it will most likely become a funny story for him and the people he knows in the future. Did the employee deserve to get fired? FUCKING YES. I don't want to have to worry about employees I trust with my phone and/or computer getting in there and dicking around with who knows what, frankly the guy is lucky that he only messed with facebook, and I would take whatever legal action I could against the guy... probably wouldn't pull the reputation charge, but hey, his lawyers probably know a lot more than I do about winning cases
Best Buy has very strict privacy policies. I bet Best buy pays out big to make this go away. They probably fired the employee and his/her manager.
Yeah, this. It not about what was put on his Facebook wall, the fact of the matter is that the employee used his position wrongly. I agree that this lawsuit is still taking it just a bit too far since the employee was fired, but there have been much stupider lawsuits over smaller stuff before, so I'm not at all surprised. Also, this:
I watched the video, and it doesn't at all sound like "he apparently isn't very fond of homosexuals." It merely sounds exactly as he said, that he's just tired of explaining to people that he isn't gay. How he feels about homosexuals has absolutely nothing to do with it, he just doesn't want people to see him as one because he isn't one. It's just like not wanting to be seen as a woman if you're a man (or vice versa). If you're one of those people who really cares what other people think of you, then if you're a man who other people keep saying acts like and is practically a woman, you wouldn't want to give any fodder to the claims (even if they're obviously untrue). It doesn't at all mean that you don't like woman, just that you're not one. EDIT: Of course, I also agree that some people just need to lighten up, because more often than not claims such as these are said purely because the person takes him/herself far too seriously. I'm just pointing out where I think he's coming from.
I don't understand the problem. Why doesn't he simply delete the message and post another one saying that he was facebook-jacked? Everyone will go, "Oooh...", have a good laugh about it, and go on living life. Getting butt-hurt and threatening to sue seems a tad extreme.
I don't know man, he may have known a bunch of religious nut-jobs, hell, there was a story on Reddit earlier today about a black-supremist-jew who saw his son, which is one of 9 I believe, smack another on the ass. The kid is 4 years old, and what did he do? Well he picked up a fire arm, played some very loud prayer music in the garage, shot the boy in the head and then told the mother. Who is essentially his slave to put it in a suitcase and hide it. I'd like to note he is / was essentially a cult leader, with 4 wives to boot. Believe it or not, this could have either threatened future employment, his friends or family or anyone he has a known association with. Coming out is a emotional thing and having to fix it is almost like yelling you have cancer but it was only a joke. And if the dude didn't have his phone then he very well couldn't have fixed it in day one, so he would have been oblivious to it until his next shift, then he would have to answer to the texts, phonecalls and facebook messages. One day is twenty four hours, which is quite some time. Plenty of people would have saw the post and it wouldn't be like he saw it in less then a minute and fix it, where only his dog saw it, no, it would have had enough time to sink into peoples brains. Once again, there are places in the world that essentially mentally beat up children if they did something wrong in the eye of the lord. Whether it be getting raped, homosexuality, or even being suicidal, they will mentally and physically beat them up over things that are either out of their hands or caused by what their trying to fix. I doubt that just because you friends are cool with Homosexuality and vice versa doesn't necessarily mean his family or his friends are.
Remember that not all homosexuals take it up the bum because there is always someone who has to give them the thing going up their bum.
Still amazed at how many people think that this guy not wanting people to think that he is gay = homophobia. If I went around calling openly gay people straight, they have all the right in the world to be pissed. Do people have their politically correct heads so far up their asses that this guy can't defend his identity without being treated like a monster? How about some hate for the best buy douche using implied homosexuality as an insult instead?
No, but it seems you're more than willing to hold it against him.
That's not funny, that's fucking terrifying. This combined with that other story about the guys getting fired for "liking" something on Facebook, just make me want to continue to stay a million billion kms away from Facebook at all times.
Is this going anywhere? I don't see what your point is.
This is the general attitude of the people in this thread... "I CANT BELIEVE HE'S ANGRY THAT SOMEONE WHO HE PAID TO FIX HIS PHONE POSTED THAT HE WAS GAY ON HIS FACEBOOK! I WOULD BE TOTALLY FINE WITH IT!" Let's be honest here, it'd be fucking embarrassing and you know it.
It's one thing to dismiss it as a harmless joke when a friend of yours does this. It's like when one of my buddies calls me a dickface or something. Now, a complete stranger walking up out of the blue and calling me a dickface? That's something completely different, regardless of how I might choose to respond. Also, it's unfair to cast the guy as a homophobe. The situation is embarrassing. And when something like this happens, on something as relatively public as Facebook, I'd like to see anyone avoid taking it a little extra-seriously at first. Let's say you walk out of a public restroom and walk around with your fly open for half an hour. Then you realize it was open, after everyone in the world had the chance to see it. In reality, very few people probably noticed... but you feel like everyone did. In reality, it's not a world-ending mistake... but you feel like you were strutting around naked. I'm not sure I understand the desire to turn this around on the victim of the prank, or to write him off as over-reacting.
Caught between a rock and a hard place (huh huh, hard). On the one hand, he wants something for nothing. On the other, he doesn't want to come off like a bigot or homophobe.
I'd say that's your failing, and not mine..
I wasn't saying it was anyone's failing, I just wanted you to explain. Can you stop dancing around and just tell me what you're going on about?
How did you get "He apparently isn't very fond of homosexuals." from what he said? I'd be pretty pissed if someone I didn't know facebook raped me in such a manner too. Doesn't mean I "don't like dem homos". Is there something else the guy said that lead you to believe he has something against gay people? Or is it just conclusion jumping because, well it's the internet and because that make for a better article than 'guy got facebook raped by employee, turns out he was pissed off'
Thank fuck for that, someone else not quite ready to burn the guy because he has the audacity to be pissed off at an employee for taking a royal liberty.
While that would be embarrassing to see that on my facebook (i've had it happen once before) there is a bit of a simple solution: 1. delete said status message 2. make another status explaining it and move on leaning a valuable life lesson about remembering to log out of the BookFace While it could be appropriate to take potential legal action for the Best Buy Guy using a customer's phone for a prank the reasons given at present are kind of silly.
Yeah it's embarrassing but he's still an idiot. Plus he says "my reputation has been tarnished", almost as if being gay were, I don't know, something to be ashamed of. I have zero sympathy for someone who thinks like that.
I just feel like that's a jump to conclusions. Also, is it really fair to call him an "idiot" for trusting someone to be professional at their job? The average person just doesn't know all the crazy shit people do when they repair your electronics. When I was fixing computers, I used to look through so many people's personal files that it's not even funny... but that just makes me an asshole; it doesn't make them an idiot.
I feel he should've used the Seinfeld approach:

Ya I watched the original video and this dude doesn't seem like a homophobe to me. He just seems like some guy who is tired of questions about his sexuality and wants to make sure that he is extremely clear in telling people that he isn't gay. I think Grey needs to rewrite this post because he isn't just some ignorant person, and to everyone making fun of this guy, stop it, he has had enough problems already without the internet goin' out of control about this.
