Nope and the webstaff is the same one here as at like newsmax -- Entertainment Consumer Association...

I signed up for the ECA... Then i was repteadly attack and insulted by the webstaff and when i question them they ban-hammered...

No, they are basically spam -- They harass countless of people and really treat people they dislike in anyway they please. Because this site is owned by them. They do not work for this site... This site is not undercontract with any other organization, or high brand name.

That is why they get labled as spam -- They have a high profile online and many report these site as phishing -- This site also has a high complaints of people losing passwords to facebook and numerous other sites. That is why they are in spam...

The webstaff of many alias' know who i am... from only online though -- Ive gotten them banned countable times at Xbox network and PS3 network for distrupting or harassing users.

What? I'm not sure if you are talking about the ECA or The Escapist...or what you may be referring to. If you have a problem, please feel free to use our appeal system: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/contact/

So, is there a list of banned and probated users on the forum? The posts are usually pretty funny.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, but after I had first submitted it, it didn't show up. Even after refreshing. Don't know why. But, since this post is here and I thought of another question, I guess I'll use it. If I provoke mod wrath, will I be notified? Or could they delete my post, lock my thread, etc. without me knowing?

ReturnPostage:

If you get provoke Mod Wrath, you'll be notified, yes.

It pretty much outlines what post got you the Mod Wrath, as well as why it was deemed a post worthy of wrath. It also includes a link to a contact form, from which you can appeal and try and get your wrath over-turned, I believe. But as for locking/sinking of threads and deleting of posts, I'm not too sure. I've heard you're supposed to be sent one for a locked thread, but people have complained about not being told why their thread was locked/sunk so I don't think so.

And as for your first question about a list of users, no list like that exists, I believe.

Very helpful thread, thanks. ^^

I know. Back when I was a more prominent user that was my pasttime. Said hobby is actually where I drew a lot of the information for this thread from.

That said, I'm pretty sure The Escapist does not condone nor support the act of 'naming and shaming' so I'm pretty sure you're out of luck.

I'd love to see a 'best of the banhammer' thread though. One of my favourites was when Wilson, a mod who may or may not still be around, banned himself just to see what happened.

I must say these rules are very well built and presented, other forums didn't have such 'strict' rules and usually the mods are not even there; Wich is why im glad i finally decided to join The Escapist.
Hopefully this'll be a nice 'experience' and i sure hope to be able to contribute to this awesome place.
Edit: Also i'm not sure if this is the place, but is my avatar in some way considered offensive?
I mean, there is somewhat a little nudity, and maybe i should change it to something more friendly and appropiate?

Considering several people get away with avatars of bouncing boobs (not bared, of course), I think you're fine. Just nothing pornographic.

Anyone else find it amusing that the first commenter after the rules has been banned now? Just an interesting observation. :L

Very informative thread, though I do find it somewhat ironic that the first person to reply is banned. That made me laugh a bit.

I think one of my favorite mod comments was wilson banning someone for "being an idiot".

forum rules look about the same as any other. though a bit more interesting to read when discussing trolls. so I voted no because there wasnt anything realy new. though avatar max size and format wouldve been nice to see there.

*edit
avatar is 75x75 pixels.

Can't you just print up a list of words i can't say?

.. Um, I got put on probation for a day (my first time ever) so does that ruin my chances to earn the Real Ultimate Poster Badge..? Was just wondering.. and if so.. .then, I am really sorry..

Yeah, it does. Even a one day probation ruins it, sorry to say. :/

From what I hear, you'll never get the Neo. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

I wonder if I'll survive that long...

Icaruss:

For starters, you cant say any racial slur. Any prejudice word describing a religion, country of origin, or sexuality is also out of the question.
I mean, you can use simple curse words like "damn"

Yes, anything more than a warning will lose you the badge. However, if you express good behaviour over a long period of time you can make an appeal.

I got a 1 day probation a year before I hit 5000 posts, and I made an appeal to the mods when I was in the 4900s to see if they'd overlook this one time I

SPAMBOT CRUSHED

some poor unfortunate bot. I never got an answer but I got the badge, so I can say that you should be cool - especially considering your badge credentials.

Mind you, that was a long time ago. I'm not sure the mods run on the same guidelines or rules that they used to - I believe they've updated somewhat over the past few years.

Oh wow, it's you :D the guy who made this Thread.. you did an amazing job with it of course for I know how hard it is making a Thread Index (since I did the Group Index Guide). Props to you for all your organizing efforts and much more.

Literally thank you for letting me know- I will certainly have my hopes up not spite if I don't get that Badge. I wish to make an appeal then when the time comes, but for now I will be on my best behavior :). I didn't even know my badges gave me credentials, but that's really cool to know.

So yeah, I am really glad you got the Badge then for it shows that I still have a chance. But, I must earn it with good efforts and not do anything I regret. Thank you very much once again good sir, I am happy that you of all people told me this. This is the first time i've seen you post too Haha.

I have a question, is swearing acceptable as long is it isn't excessive or aimed to insult other members or derogatory to any groups. For example "I found the story of Super awesome mega ducks from space to be fucking awesome!" would that be acceptable?, I just want to know so I don't cross the line.

How can a moron like myself (only calling myself a moron) check to see how close to banhammer they are? Also is there a permanent wrath record or do things disappear after a stretch of good behavior?

I don't think you can check, unless you PM a Mod and ask. :P

And it is a permanent record as far as I'm aware of. I've seen some older users banned on tame posts[1] with a Mod note saying something along the lines of "This user was banned for repeat offences, this was the final straw." or some such. So I'm assuming it's a permanent record.

[1] Calling someone a dick, stuff like that.

Gosh dernit. That is the exact kind of thing I would do because that is just who I am, but I like posting here. Shit crap...I'm going to have to mind my peas and queues.

Back when I was a mod, I did actually ask Spin for a way to allow users to see their current records (date, type, length, post, everything a mod can see apart from who gave it out). EDIT: I also meant for it to be a private thing for only the user to see, like the message inbox. It is down on record as far as I know as a possibility, but I don't know if it will ever be implemented or not. I hope so, as I amongst other users have had issues in the past about whether or not certain punishments were on record.

For a general idea, if you've gotten a punishment of about a two week suspension or longer, then you're going to be close to if not on your last legs.

Punishments are permenantly on record by the system unless it's a mod error. They have been removed after a stroke of good behaviour, but that's only happened once to a user who had one very minor slip-up and then became one of the most helpful users on the site before appealing over that slip-up. I would say who they were, but they kind of gave themselves away on this very page. Apart from them, noone else to my knowledge has ever had punishments removed, that includes users who have since become mods.

Oh yeah, one more thing:

Claymorez:
Snip from different thread so I don't have to ask there as well.

Can you guys remove me from the lists of mods in both this thread and Clay's guide? Thanks.

EDIT: There are a few new mods as well. I'll post those ones here once I know there aren't going to be any more.

EDIT2: maddawg IAJI, GeorgW, Caliostro and sky14kemea are new Red Guards, Marter is a User Reviews Mod and me, Claymorez and Aylaine have left.

Can someone explain this to me?
Why were they put on probation for those posts?

koeniginator:

Because there is no way they could have watched a 5 minute cartoon in 1 minutes and where just "firsting"

They weren't claiming to have watched it already or made any indication they were "firsting," and the 2nd user who posted it three minutes after couldn't have finished watching either, yet he wasn't put on probation.

I don't know just guessing. Quick little rule of thumb, don't post with in a minute of a video or article going up in the related thread.

If someone else can give a better explanation I'd appreciate for then to do so.

koeniginator:

bdcjacko was essentially spot on with the basic principle those punishments follow: Watch before posting. It isn't quite the same as saying "First!" -- which actually gets accounts suspended -- but it often follows similar intentions whilst trying to avoid punishment. A typical incident is where someone says 'Nice one Yahtzee' one minute after a five minute video was put up (I know that didn't happpen this time but it often does); They won't have watched the video and thus are posting a generic, vague response to try and avoid punishment whilst still appearing first in the comments.

Also, the 2nd guy to post three minutes in has now been probationed. From what I can tell, the mods and staff members prefer finding the posts in the report queue over simly going through every comment thread for any content looking for posts like that, which is why you can get people not being punished for a few hours for posting before watching.

I hope that helps answer your question.

As much as my morbid curiosity would enjoy having "rap sheets" for everyone, I understand, respect, and appreciate the reasoning behind why not. I do think it would be nice to be able to view your own run-ins with the mods however.

Just an update on the mod list:

The lovely Zombie_Fish, the productive Claymorez, the elusive Alex_P and Aylaine have all put down their banhammers.

Luckily we were able to find a couple of able individuals to pick up those banhammers, so the next season of Power Rangers is not cancelled so there is no reason to panic.

They are;
GeorgW
sky14kemea
maddawg IAJI
Caliostro
and the new User Reviews mod Marter

Can we start deleting and punishing people creating these 'underage sex and rape' threads? I'm fairly certain the rules cover talking about that crap and it's disgusting.

Reporting a misshap: due to some functional distortion on my side or on these forums the topic I posted seems to have duplicated-

I didn't know who to contact on the matter and apoligize for thus trashing the forums.
