Mafia II Rated in Brazil Amid Teases from 2K

Mafia II has been rated for Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Brazil, pointing toward a potential remaster of the 2010 mobster sandbox title. Listings on the Brazil Rating Board were first noticed by Twisted Voxel. This is only the latest occurrence of new platform ratings for the 2K-published sequel, as the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee rated the game last month and Korea before that.

Meanwhile, the official Mafia Twitter account started posting teaser tweets yesterday, marking the first time the account has been active since August of 2018. While the first tweet from yesterday simply said “Family,” an additional tweet was posted today, reading “Power.” The evidence that Mafia II: Definitive Edition exists is piling up fast.

Mafia II launched for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in August of 2010 and saw subsequent DLC releases: The Betrayal of Jimmy, Jimmy’s Vendetta, and Joe’s Adventures. The last entry in the 2K series came in 2016 with Mafia III. Between the Mafia Twitter account making noise and the recent listing, we likely won’t have to wait long before we hear more about what’s next for the Mafia games.

Publisher 2K could be teasing a number of Mafia-related projects, including a potential fourth installment in the series. Take-Two promised back in February that a new title from developer Hangar 13 would be revealed “in the coming months.”
