Friday the 13th: The Game Will Close Its Dedicated Servers This Month

Today, the official Friday the 13th: The Game Twitter account announced that its dedicated servers will be shutting down later this month as part of its final patch. This does not mean the game is going offline, as you can still utilize what is referred to as “peer-to-peer” matchmaking via Quick Play and Private Matches. The game will still be supported in some capacity, and you can submit bug tickets at a specific website.

Pokémon GO Had Its Best Year Ever in 2020, Earning Over $1 Billion in Revenue

Despite being a year in which many of us have stayed inside, Pokémon GO has had its best year ever in terms of revenue earned. Today, we learned that it generated over $1 billion in revenue in 2020 alone, bringing its total revenue earned to over $4 billion since its launch in 2016. This year, developer Niantic implemented stay-at-home features into Pokémon GO, allowing its users to still play without having to travel outside during the pandemic.

Days Gone Will Support 4K at ‘Up to’ 60 FPS on PS5

As with many first-party PlayStation 4 games, developer Bend Studio announced that Days Gone will be enhanced on PlayStation 5. It will support dynamic 4K resolution at “up to” 60 frames per second and will allow the ability to transfer your saves from PS4 to PS5. This means you can boot up your save right where you left off on PS4 while enjoying the enhanced visuals made possible by the PS5.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Gets a 10-Hour Demo on PS4, PC, and Xbox One

You can now play a large portion of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, thanks to the game’s new demo — which includes around 10 hours of gameplay. This is the definitive edition of the original Dragon Quest XI first seen on Nintendo Switch, and it features new content, quality-of-life improvements, and more. This version has been out on Nintendo Switch for over a year now but will come to the aforementioned platforms on Dec. 4.

Resident Evil Village Will Be Playable in 4K and Support Ray Tracing on PS5

Sony released a slew of information about Resident Evil Village, and there were a few main takeaways to dive into. For starters, it will support 4K, HDR, and ray tracing, along with virtually no load times thanks to PlayStation 5’s SSD. Its frame rate hasn’t been confirmed (the listing in the tweet below is a typo), but it will make use of the DualSense’s adaptive triggers and will support Tempest 3D AudioTech on compatible headphones. It’s unknown when exactly we’ll get to play Resident Evil Village, but it is expected to launch next year.
