Resident Evil 4 VR Officially Revealed with First Look at Gameplay

Resident Evil 4 in VR actually exists and is coming to Oculus Quest 2. Capcom officially announced the title, which was previously only rumored to be in development, during its second Resident Evil Showcase today. Thankfully, we got more than just the announcement, as the presentation gave us a few quick glimpses at gameplay. This VR version of the third-person survival-horror classic looks to be a faithful recreation of the original, just with a bit more knife juggling. More information about Resident Evil 4 in VR will be detailed during the Oculus Games Showcase next week on April 21.

Capcom has been busy prepping the Resident Evil franchise for a bombastic 25th anniversary. Resident Evil 4 in VR is already an exciting announcement in its own right, but the company also has Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil Re:Verse launching next month on May 7. A live-action reboot movie titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is coming in November, and Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, an animated movie, is coming to Netflix this July. We’re only a few months into 2021, so stay tuned for more updates on the world of Resident Evil.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting to hear more about Capcom’s alleged Resident Evil 4 remake, which has been rumored to launch sometime in 2023 after a major development overhaul. Though that project’s existence has not been officially announced, it would make sense considering the company has already released remakes for the second and third games in the franchise. There are also rumors of a new Resident Evil for Nintendo Switch.
