Epic Games Store Finally Integrates OpenCritic Reviews

Epic has finally integrated reviews into the listings for games on its Epic Games Store.

Those reviews will be taken from OpenCritic. Inclusion of reviews to help consumers easily gauge the quality of titles has been flagged as one of the many features that the storefront has been criticized for missing since its launch early last year.

The addition was spotted by Steam Spy founder Sergey Galyonkin, who shared the news on Twitter earlier today. However, the feature has not yet been officially confirmed by Epic and continues to be listed as ‘Up Next’ on its publicly available roadmap for continued development on the storefront.

Several other features included in that same category have also become available relatively recently, suggesting that other much-requested updates may be on the horizon. If the ‘Up Next’ category can be relied upon, self-service refunds, wishlists, and mod support are high priorities for the team though, as per a change in approach from late last year no timeframes as to when those will be added to the Epic Games Store are yet available.

While Epic was silent on the addition of this much anticipated new feature, the company did make an unrelated announcement earlier today that its weekly free game campaign will continue throughout 2020. At the time of writing, that free game is Thunder Lotus’s Lovecraft-inspired metroidvania Sundered: Eldritch Edition, with humorous platformer Horace becoming available later this week.
