Grim Guardians: Demon Purge Is a Co-op Inti Creates Action Sidescroller

Inti Creates has announced Grim Guardians: Demon Purge, a new 2D action sidescroller, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. Inti Creates is of course the developer of many successful 2D action sidescrollers, such as the Mega Man Zero, Azure Striker Gunvolt, and Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon franchises, and this is another title that falls squarely within its niche.

The premise of Grim Guardians: Demon Purge is that long-distance fighter Shinobu Kamizono and close-range fighter Maya Kamizono are demon hunter sisters who discover their school has been replaced by a demonic castle. Now, they have to fight their way to answers about what’s going on, and you can swap between controlling sisters at any time or play in two-player co-op. A “Style System” will provide “extensive” difficulty options for replayability, and the two characters’ unique abilities will allow you to find different routes through stages. It sounds good, and it looks even better in Inti Creates’ Grim Guardians: Demon Purge announcement trailer.

This trailer mostly announces that the game exists, so it has no release date yet. If it has all the quality that the Curse of the Moon games had though, this should be a delight for old-school 2D action fans.
