Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse – get your Halloween cosplay ready for release day

Konami has finally put a date on Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and yes, it is arriving at almost the most obvious time possible.

The next 2D Castlevania game will launch on October 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version is also planned for 2026, but that one does not yet have a firm release date, with Konami saying more details will be announced later.

That means Belmont’s Curse will arrive just in time for Halloween, so if you are looking for a theme for this year’s dressing up…

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is being developed by Konami and Evil Empire, with Motion Twin also involved in an advisory role. Evil Empire and Motion Twin are best known for their work around Dead Cells, including the excellent Return to Castlevania DLC, but Belmont’s Curse is not being positioned as a roguelike. Instead, this is a 2D action-exploration game built around classic Castlevania atmosphere, modern movement, and a new Belmont hero. And yes, the music sounds exception as usual.

What is Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse about?

Belmont’s Curse is set in 1499, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. This time, players take control of Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont, as Paris is overrun by monstrous creatures and a mysterious castle looms over the city.

Naturally, Rose is armed with the Vampire Killer whip, because it would not be much of a Belmont family outing without one. Konami says the whip is not just for smacking monsters either, with traversal built around using it to move through environments with more speed and freedom.

The game’s official site also details an Arcana system, where defeated bosses are sealed into Rose’s tarot cards and turned into abilities. Confirmed bosses include familiar Castlevania names such as Death, Medusa, and Carmilla, alongside new nightmare fuel such as Joan of Arc.

Rose will also be able to use weapons across seven categories, along with relics that alter her playstyle through offensive and defensive effects. In other words, it sounds like Konami knows exactly what Castlevania fans want from a modern 2D entry: exploration, build variety, gothic nonsense, and at least one boss that makes you say something unpleasant at the screen.

What comes with the Midnight Edition?

Alongside the standard digital edition, Konami is also releasing a Midnight Edition in both digital and physical forms.

The Midnight Edition includes the base game, a Digital Sound and Art Gallery with 71 music tracks, Trevor Style and Sypha Style costumes, and the Family’s Grace relic. The physical version also includes a SteelBook case and a Rose Belmont tarot card.

Anyone who pre-orders the game will also get an Alucard Style Costume.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launches October 15, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version is still due later in 2026.
