After much teasing that the Shyvana rework is coming in Season 1 of 2026, Riot Games revealed it is on the way in the next patch. The champion retains some of its core design, with some more simplified gameplay progression that gives the champion some lease of life in the new age of the game.
LoL Shyvana Rework Abilities
Updated to include new revised balancing numbers to reflect Attack builds, and adding assists to stacking passive.
While we got visual confirmation of her rework from the cinematic teaser, we didn’t really see much on her abilities bar a flame breath tease. The core of Shyvana’s kit largely remains similar, albeit with some slightly modified effects:
Passive – Scalemail: Takedowns on enemy champions, large minions, and large monsters grant Shyvana Scalemail stacks. These grant permanent stacks that give 0.5 armor and 0.35 magic resist.
Q – Emberstrike:
- Passive: Shyvana’s attacks deal (1% = 0.017% bonus AD and +0.01% AP) Max Health Magic Damage on-hit.
Shyvana’s next attack strikes both the target and the surrounding area dealing (5 + 110% AD and +15% AP) Physical damage. The ability can be recast or a short delay within 4 seconds..
- Dragon Form: Gains additional recast, dealing (7.5 TD + 165% AD + 22.5% AP) as True Damage (final recast cannot crit in Dragon Form).
W – Inferno Aegis: Shyvana gains a shield (60 + 10% bonus HP + 200% Scalemail value, increased by (18 + 3% bonus HP +60% Scalemail) per nearby champions) for 2.5 seconds, 25% movement speed increasing to 44% when miving towards enemies. After a short delay or when the shield expires, the area around her detonates (80 + 40% AD, 20% AP) Magic Damage.
- Dragon Form: The explosion will heal her if it strikes an enemy champion or monster. Restore from (100- 250 Movement Speed + 10% Bonus AD +5% AP) to (200-500 MS +20% bonus AD +10% AP) based on missing health.
E – Molten Burst: Shyvana launches a fireball that explodes at the target location (80 + 70% AP) Magic Damage and slows them for 80% for 0.75 seconds.
- Dragon Form: Fireball is larger and passes through and explodes upon striking a champion, large enemies or reachinh its terminus, it explodes (100 + 87.5% AP) Magic Damage and slows fr 40% for 0.75 seconds. It leaves behind a trail of fire for 2 seconds that deals (15-25MS +5% AP) Magic Damage per second.
R – Dragon’s Descent:
- Passive: Generates Dragon Fury stacks by strking enemies with attacks and abilities, increased while in Dragon Form and reduced when strikin in an area against non champions.
Shyvana transforms into a Dragon becoming unstoppable and flies forward to target location, breathing fire on enemies, dealing (150 + 100% AP). Enemeis hit Flee for 0.75 seconds.
- Dragon Form: She becomes larger and her basic abilities are empowered. She gains (100 + 300% Scailmail) bonus Health size and attack range. Shyvana will lose Dragon Fury while in this form, and gain 0.01 Fury Geneartion per 1 Ultimate Ability Haste
As you can see, the likes of her passive is much more traditional. Shyvana used to get 5 Armor and Magic Resist per Dragon kill. But giving it to large creeps, jungle monsters, alongside champion kills means her passive will likely be much better to utilize. Getting 4 Drakes gave about 20 armor and magic resist, which was largely negligible when scaling into the late game. Chances are Shyvana could become a powerhouse as a mid-to-late game scaler.
The other nice things are the changes to her E. The skill used to apply marks that amped damage, but a simple skillshot that slows and does damage makes more sense.
Her Q, for example, can still double strike, but it’s not interacting with the old E max HP mark it applied, meaning you can actually itemize her kit to be a bit more bruiser rather than full AP mage for the Dragon E build, or the on-hit build with her W into Q spam.
You can also get max health shred still in its basic attacks, so it still opens up Tank shred builds, true damage builds, or even AP builds to a degree on her E. Her istentiy remains similar, just more stremalined and makes more sense now.
As for her builds, we’ll likely we’ll see her in the jungle farming up a storm before becoming a menace with bonus resistances. If they do get strong, I can see Shyvana becoming similar to Shen, with it being a strong tank fighter. Maybe Shyvana could build Jak’Sho, and maybe even Protobelt’s Harness if her scaling does get really strong by the 30th minute or so. The added Scalemail scaling oin her ultimate and W adds a lot of durabilty, so farming into a tank with those items could prove extremely strong.
Outside of that, your damage options are questionable, as you either want AD for her recast Q spam, or AP for her super large scaling in her E. So, trying to find an AP and farmin balance with Scale mail to make her strong, or afull AD bruiser with Shojin and some other tankier fighter items with Bonus Health could work for her Q and W playstyle.
Just a guess though. Either way we are happy to give her a try.
