The Witcher on Netflix Has Found Its Vesemir in Kim Bodnia

Netflix’s The Witcher has cast Kim Bodnia as Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir. Netflix’s NX Twitter account broke the news, confirming that we’ll see Bodnia in the show when it returns for season 2 in 2021. The actor is best known for his work in Pusher, Nightwatch, and, most recently, Killing Eve.

If you’ve not managed to catch up on the books from which the show is based on, fans of The Witcher video games from developer CD Projekt Red will remember Vesemir as a wise witcher that serves as a friend, teacher, and father figure of sorts to Geralt. So far, there are no details explaining what role Vesemir will play in season 2.

A few other notable actors have been added to The Witcher season 2. Set to work alongside star Henry Cavill are Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju and Paul Bullion from Peaky Blinders. Additionally, Thue Ersted Rasmussen (F9), Yasen Atour (Young Wallander), Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl), Mecia Simson, and Agnes Bjorn were all recently confirmed to join the cast.

Netflix is running with the success it’s seen from Cavill’s portrayal of The Witcher, with the streaming platform having already announced an anime spinoff film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
