Destruction AllStars delayed February 2021 joining PlayStation Plus for two months Lucid Studios Sony Interactive Entertainment SIE

Sony has announced that Destruction AllStars from Lucid Games will be delayed from Nov. 12 to February 2021. The game had previously been slated to be a launch title for PlayStation 5. In a post at the PlayStation.Blog, PlayStation Director of Product Development Pete Smith shared the news that Destruction AllStars will also be included for two months in PlayStation Plus at no additional cost to subscribers.

Smith explained that as a multiplayer game, Destruction AllStars would be best experienced with as many players trying the game as possible, thus the transition to being offered free through PlayStation Plus. Those who have already preordered the game at $69.99 are eligible for a full refund through the PlayStation Store, PlayStation’s website, or retail. A new trailer will release next week with more details about the game, so players will know what to expect once February comes around.

Similarly, multiplayer party game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was offered as a free PlayStation Plus game in August this year. This, in addition to other factors, led Fall Guys to quickly becoming one of 2020’s biggest hits. Sony could be hoping to catch similar fanfare with Destruction AllStars due to the game’s multiplayer nature. In any case, hopefully this will be a positive change for the Lucid Games title’s bottom line on PlayStation 5.
