Dying Light 2 Release Date Set for December, Evolved Gameplay Shown

Dying Light 2, which is now officially titled Dying Light 2 Stay Human, finally has a release date of Dec. 7, 2021, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. Developer Techland announced the date today during a livestream that also featured a better look at some of the game’s parkour and zombie-slaughtering gameplay, which was much more satisfying than the briefer development update Techland had provided this past March.

The Dying Light 2 Stay Human stream focused on more details about the game’s world and characters too, explaining that you won’t need to have played the original game to understand the narrative’s events, which take place 20 years later. Meanwhile, the gameplay video offers a nice overview that shows exactly how the Dying Light universe — and its undead — have evolved in the time passed.

In 2018, Techland announced Dying Light 2 as an ambitious, choice-driven sequel to its 2015 post-apocalyptic parkour nightmare. After a hefty showing at E3 2019 and a sizable gameplay video a few months after, the studio mostly went quiet amid reports of development troubles behind the scenes. More reports of chaos at Techland began to surface into 2021.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human clearly has a lot of ambition, and with its December release date, players will find out if it lives up to them. Back in 2019, we spoke with Techland game director Marc Albinet about how it’s been building the sequel to be an impressive next step for the series.
