Jurassic World Aftermath, Universal Studios, Jurassic World Survivor, trademark

Jurassic World Aftermath may be Universal Studios’ next crack at bringing its dinosaur franchise into the world of video games according to a recent trademark filing. First filed on April 10 and later discovered by fan site Jurassic Outpost, the description gives a glimmer of hope for those looking to tread through dino theme parks (or what’s left of them), but you can check out the details for yourself below.

The Jurassic World Aftermath trademark is filed in the category of Computer & Software Products & Electrical & Scientific Products. The description provided to the USPTO for Jurassic World Aftermath is Recorded interactive multi-media software for playing games; downloadable interactive multi-media software for playing games; downloadable software in the nature of a mobile application for playing games and accessing entertainment content for use with computers, portable handheld digital electronic communication devices, mobile devices, wired and wireless communication devices, and video game consoles; recorded computer game software for wireless and electronic mobile devices, mobile phones, hand-held electronic devices, and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software for wireless and electronic mobile devices, mobile phones, hand-held electronic devices, and video game consoles; computer game discs; video game discs; wireless communication devices and wireless communication systems comprised of computer hardware and recorded software for the transmission of audio, voice, and images; recorded computer virtual reality game software; downloadable virtual reality game software.

So, basically, Jurassic World Aftermath could be anything from a AAA, open world FPS to a gacha mobile game, but the trademark is at least a sign of a game of some sort. If Universal ever plans to unveil the project, there is no telling when it will happen.

While the description above is extremely vague, Jurassic Outpost believes Jurassic World Aftermath could be the reinvention of Jurassic World Survivor.

Jurassic World Survivor was a never-officially-announced title from Universal, Perfect World Entertainment, and Cryptic Studios in development circa 2015-ish that would have likely taken shape as an open world, third person survival game of some sort. Little is known about how much progress was made before the game was scrapped or repurposed, but some footage has leaked online over the years. There’s not much evidence suggesting the two titles are directly related as of now, but here’s to hoping that life, uh, finds a way.

If Jurassic World Aftermath does come to be, you can probably expect to it to tie into Universal’s ongoing movie franchise in some form.
