Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Ember Lab, PlayStation 5, next-gen release date

Kena: Bridge of Spirits, an Anticipated PS4/PS5 Title, Delayed to 2021

Story-driven action-adventure game Kena: Bridge of Spirits has been delayed to next year. Developer Ember Lab announced on Twitter that its debut video game won’t come until Q1 2021 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The game was originally planned to arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Epic Games Store for holiday 2020.

“We have not made this decision lightly, but feel it is best for the game and well-being of the team,” the statement read. “We will use this time to give the game the polish it deserves and deliver an experience that meets our vision and your expectations.” Ember Lab said it will share more on Kena: Bridge of Spirits in the coming months.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits was first announced to come to PlayStation 5 during Sony’s next-gen-focused June presentation, where the company also revealed the design of its new console, among other things. This initial reveal trailer promised fast-paced combat, impressive visuals, and, most importantly, adorable woodland creatures.

The magical third-person title is Ember Lab’s first full video game; the team previously worked on different non-game animations. However, you may have seen the studio’s impressive viral The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask fan film from 2016, which showcased an imaginative take on Nintendo’s classic title.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits comes to PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 early next year. Until then, you can rewatch the game’s next-gen announcement trailer as a reminder of what’s to come.
