News You Might’ve Missed on 2/17/21: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass, Hades Physical Release, & More

Today feels almost like a holiday due to the Nintendo Direct, a presentation full of Nintendo Switch-related announcements. Aside from major reveals like the release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for Switch, there were also a handful of smaller ones to be excited about. We got a look at Outer Wilds for Switch, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity DLC, and more. Here’s the video game news you might’ve missed on Feb. 17, 2021.

Outer Wilds Announced for Switch

During today’s Nintendo Direct stream, it was announced that Outer Wilds will be headed to Switch. The reveal didn’t specify a release date, but it will launch sometime in the summer. Outer Wilds is a space exploration game that features a repeating time loop. Players are tasked with uncovering the secrets of the universe before the solar system explodes. Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Getting a Super Mario Crossover

In celebration of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario, Nintendo has announced a new Animal Crossing: New Horizons crossover, featuring your favorite characters from the Mushroom Kingdom. The update will go live on Feb. 25 for free and will feature new Super Mario-themed items like costumes, usable green pipes, turtle shells, and other famous accessories from the series.

Physical Edition of Hades Coming to Nintendo Switch

On March 19, a physical edition of Hades will come to Nintendo Switch. It includes a cartridge for the game, a downloadable code for the soundtrack, and a 32-page character compendium. It’s available to preorder at select retailers, and although some are reporting it will retail for $39.99, it is currently $34.99 at Best Buy. Hades originally came to Switch in 2020 as a digital title and garnered critical acclaim.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Coming to Nintendo Switch

A port for Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is headed to Nintendo Switch on March 19. Dubbed the Complete Edition, this version will come with all previously released content upon release and will cost $39.99. Battle for Neighborville is a third-person shooter similar to the Garden Warfare spinoff series, with an emphasis on multiplayer PvP combat, as well as an offline mode.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass Announced

During today’s Nintendo Direct, we got a look at the Expansion Pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. It’ll cost $19.99 and will feature two waves of content. Wave 1 will drop in June 2021 and will feature the following:

  • Expanded roster
  • Newly added weapon types
  • New challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab
  • Newly added challenging enemies

Wave 2 is set to launch in November 2021 and will include the following:

  • New character vignettes
  • Newly added stages
  • Expanded roster
  • New battle skills for existing characters
