G1 + Movie + Tron, it seems.

SAMAS:
G1 + Movie + Tron, it seems.

How is it plus Tron?

Well... I do like robots...

I'm getting quite interesting in this game now. But can someone tell me, am I allowed to get this if I'm not a serious Transformers fan? I feel like bits of it are going to be lost on me...

You're worried you might struggle to understand the appeal of transforming humanoid robots blowing the crap out of each other with massively awesome guns?

Feel free to buy it. I won't hate you. Much.

Edit: yeah, it looks badass. They've really talked up having the right "feel" and "weight" to the gameplay, which means they've got a clue. That, plus the obvious reverence for the license, means it has the potential to be amazing.

I'm just glad Bumblebee looks somewhat like he's supposed to instead of that garbled mish-mash of spare parts that tried to portray him in the movie.

Also, Seekers 4 life.

Is it just me or is that thing in the last shot of the vid a death star?

Obviously, there's a healthy dose of geek love in here for the fanboys, but this is probably still an excellent opportunity to get into the franchise, because Hasbro were so enamored with the story High Moon Studios created that they pronounced it the official pre-G1 canon. Just jump in an enjoy...

DJmagma:
as long as i can play as soundwave, it's all good.

Most definitely confirmed.

SW15243:
The game supports 3 person cooperative campaign.
Is that local as well, or just online, or what?

Nope, just online. It's drop-in/drop-out, so whenever a buddy steps out of the gaming session the AI immediately takes his place.
High Moon Studios decided against a split-screen mode because of how visually busy the game's gonna be.

This actually looks pretty solid. Still, I remember a very good Transformer's game on the PS2. Not a movie tie-in, it came before the movies. Anyone else remember that?

Let me answer that question by shamelessly linking to a review of said game I recently wrote up.

Hell yes do I remember that game, and it was AWESOME!

-EDIT-
Must... have... playable demo... now!
Any word on that, Funk?

I am creaming my pants in anticipation for this game, Transfomers has always been my first love, and to see a team of devs that obviously have just as much love for it makes me very happy. I just cant wait to get to grips with it.

Holy bananas. That gameplay looks absolutely amazing! I...I might get this, I mean if it's that awesome and it doesn't have any humans (just robot carnage and transforming) then it's already better then anything Bay made. I think I'll pick this game up, because it reminds me of the old transformer cartoons/movie. ♥

Note the Tron Lines on Bumblebee and Optimus.

Probably just meant to make bots easy to distinguish from the environments, but yeah, I was reminded of this as well. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you.

TWO WORDS : OMEGA SUPREME

OH Yeah and this is what devastator should have looked like http://ghostindustries.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/devastator.jpg - geez did't Bay even watch a episode of the show. I mean it is one thing to add some originality but geez why break what ain't broke.

I'm mildly interested; but only after reading that it wouldn't have any of the movies influencing it. I remember watching the cartoons when I was younger.

John Funk:

This is what a Transformers game should dare to be.

This. Oh hell, this.

Lacsapix:

... No, that's the Planet Cybertron after all its "Transformers: War for Cybertron" http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Cybertron_(planet) I was also glad to see Trypticon had a tail.

Here's Hoping the roster of Autobots and Decepticons increase before release and or DLC

I..I..I think I can die happy now. Only one downside. I bet it will cost at least 100 dollars over here. No matter, I'll still buy it. It will probably be further down the road when the price drops, but I'll still buy it. Man, that game looks like it will kick ass.

Huh. Never thought of that, that's kind of awesome!

Considering the size of the roster now, even if they don't I'm happy with it!

But DLC is always welcome, and it being Transformers, I'm sure they will do something for us to download.

im going to be Cliffjumping and Starscreaming all day when this comes out =D

EDIT: And i think Bay should hire this guy

Think i just jizzed =P

Omega Supreme was thought to be Metroplex at first, considering him and Triptacon always used to fight the cartoons.

"ARGGHHHH MY EYES"! hehe ^_^

Just thought i'd share that with everyone ^_^

This game may very well redeem the franchise for letting Michel Bey direct the movies. I would buy this and I'm not even a big fan of the franchise. That is saying a lot as I usually don't move away far from my territories of sci-fi space fantasy and Pokemon/RPGs.

Melbourne House made it, and it was AWESOME. I'm not even a Transformers fan, but it was all the best parts of Halo, giant robots and huge, somewhat nonlinear areas.

image
Not to mention freaking Tidal Wave, one of the best gaming bosses to ever exist.

I've already pre-ordered this for PS3 and PC, might even buy copies for my friends.

Gonna be soooo awesome, me and 2 buds owning robot face in co-op and multiplayer :)

Look I don't know what all this Jazz is about transformers puns, but as long as I can get in there and Hotrod around in vehicle mode in a Blur of explosions and lasers, I'll be happy. As long as the mechanics are solid I'll practice this game til I'm the Master Blaster, and you guys are all Slag. You won't know I'm there til you feal the Rumble of your teamate exploding. So you all may as well catch the next Astrotrain to Earth cause, you won't be able to stand against me in the Cybertronian Wars as I Ravage my enemies.

John Funk:

Quite right.

Now, has there been any word from the developers about a playable demo for the masses...? Come on, just give us a simple "Yes", "No" or "I'm not allowed to tell you". Pretty please? ^^

Is it wrong that I am somewhat aroused by that trailer in the article?

Jandau:

It's got transforming alien robots, a world made of metal, a bunch of explosions and the voice of Robert Cullen. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything sexier that wouldn't require a 'NSFW' label.

you sir just made my day XD

I've been getting the feeling lately that someone at activision has been fired...or at least taken to task quite strongly.

I didn't think cliffjumper was announced as playable...maybe DLC =(

Looks like the Decepticons have got Mecha-Godzilla on their side...

This changes everything!

In the PS2 Transformers, you could transform in mid-air while targeting a decepticon that was behind you. If I can do this here and if the game's single player is as good as that one's, this will be a hit.

To those that have played T on the PS2, do you remember Hailshot? God, I loved that minicon...

Also, enough with the puns. Or I will rip out your optics.

I see this game and I know there is yet hope for the franchise.

Holy mechanized mayhem Batman! That looks freakin' awesome.

I found something.

http://tformers.com/transformers-transformers-war-for-cybertron-playable-demo-coming-exclusively-to-xbox-live/13640/news.html

So, the cat's out of the bag... the game will have a playable demo for the masses (although an exact release date has not been provided).
Except that it's going to be an X360 exclusive, and since it's apparently a multiplayer demo it's going to be useless for folks without an XBL Gold membership (which, in this case, means that neither my PS3 nor my X360 with the XBL Silver membership will do me any good).

While I'm glad the game gets a demo at all, I want to go on record by saying that this behavior from publishers pisses me off like you wouldn't believe.
Am I alone on this? What are your thoughts?
