Sleeping Dogs Review

 Pages PREV 1 2

Been waiting for this game for two years. As a gamer from Hong Kong, I just can't pass it off.

For a developer based in Vancouver, United Front Games presented Hong Kong really well. Heck, they've even got the labels on the trash cans and minivans right. There were some differences which I assume were for gameplay purposes, but it's still pretty impressive.
Not to mention, the driving and fighting mechanics were much more enjoyable than GTA IV's. Vehicles don't handle like rocks, and I really loved the Arkham Asylum style combat.

Good on UFG for releasing a Hong Kong exclusive version of the game that includes all the DLC content with the full game.

So glad I pre-ordered this, it looks amazing. I wish it was tomorrow already so I could play it, damn European release date being after the US one.

I really doubt you'll read this but is the triad/cop points a moral choice thing? Like Infamous or do you advance in both?

You get both Cop XP and Triad XP with each mission. For the Triad XP, each move you do and kill you make increases the total. For the Cop XP, the game starts with a set number you can gain and each infraction decreases from that total. I've completed missions with no Cop XP and tons of Triad.

From what you said it sounds to me like the game is unbalanced in favor of gaining Triad XP over Cop XP.

I am sure that the review is possible without the spoilers . here they werent so huge but still I didnt knew these parts about the game .
Whould the review lost its context is you just said that the main character is a guy who is undercover in the mafia ? Im not that petty but still many reviewers make these mistakes , for instance in sh downpour one of the major plot points is 5 minutes in .

As far as I can see there are no "spoilers" in this review. Besides, if you want to play the game with absolutely no prior knowledge of its content, then don't read/watch any reviews on it.

To be honest, the amount of "detail" you found in this review that pertains to the story itself would most likely be included in the description on the back of the game box. Minor details are bound to be disclosed during a piece that is designed to give an overview of the game.

You took my complain way more seriously than I did . My point was that this little spoiler in the review was entirly pointless , it didnt serve anything he just said it .

How do you expect him to have explained the Triad/Cop XP mechanic without saying that he's an undercover cop?

No mention of the pc version being an actual good port and being better than the console version.

I just want to point your attention to the end of the review ...

Greg Tito:
This review is based on the Xbox 360 version of the game.

"Class" withstanding, we generally do not realistically have the ability to complete every iteration of a given game and grade the shades of difference between them. If you're implying that we somehow "knew" about what you personally consider a superior port and maliciously chose to not post our findings then you're sadly mistaken.

OH BURN!

the game looks fun. i will have to buy it once i get the necessary funds.

This is fantastic game. I already had the pleasure to play it, I invite you to download today;) http://adf.ly/BycJ3

Solid try at linking to a virus website new person, but sadly i shall not click this link and have reported you for it. Good day

solid game, i disagree with the shooting comment, it works far better then GTA 4.

the driving get really twitchy with the faster vehicles.

it plays diffrent from what it looks like in the trailers, i watched Totalbiscut play it and it looked like a halfassed attempt at ASS CRED + GTA. its not, the game just dosn't seem to convey how it plays though screen capture very well.

also the 1.3 patch fixes almost ever issues with M+K that was within 48 hours.

i hope the DLC is substantial, like ballad of gay tony size of something

EDIT: just read the star and sum up rating, you do what a lot of video reviewers do and make it way more negative then your written sum up is

Pretty good game so far and with the talk of the PC version being better that shouldn't turn people off, on PS3 its looks really good and its fun.

That's what Total Biscuit is for. I always watch his WTF is videos for info on how good a PC game is.

OT: I might get this game... but I've got quite a bit to tide me over till the slew of late year games (Borderlands 2 the starter). So I'm still on the fence. I'll probably get it if I get some more money.
